bin on forestry work and will be doing similar off road work so needs to carry weight and tow a trailer over rough ground

That's thick chequerplate to protect the body etc not for show. this landy will be working hard every day dont forget.

Not long enough I think, could get a hiab on it if it was a bit longer wheel base

Correct me if im wrong but isnt all he done there lower the weight it can carry by adding to the weight before loading.

You are I think correct. the weight has been upped on the chassis plate so I dont know how it affects the road use. The vehicle will be carrying excess weight off road so the rules dont apply..except health and safety

Looks purposefull! If it suits his uses thats what matters! Think similar has been done to range rovers!

And it was built by Land Rover, six wheeler from new, they made a lovely job of the chassis

Yeah I'd be getting the black paint out straight away though

So is the back axle a free-wheeler?

If so, it would be useless over any rough terrain, as the drive to the middle axle could be nil if it were to encounter an axle-twister!!
