I have a warning light on the Dashboard of my Freelander 1999-2000 1.8i ES

It is the 4x4 orange warning light pointing downwards....!! Further this my reverse lights do not work either..

Anyone got any ideas...??

its the hill descent control light on - lookin your handbook and turn it off.
