I have an 89 GMC pickup and I had just put a motor in it with 150,000
miles on it. Runs great but it needs lifters because it ticks. The oil
pressure is good cold but warm its around 15 to 20psi Is that gounds
for concern? And doing lifters, is that a pain? Oh yeah the old motor
had 300,000 miles and was knocking so bad the oil pressure was about
2-3 psi COLD! It was time.

I do not think the new lifters is worth the effort because they can tick
from low oil pressure too. If you want to do something, rpelace the rod
and main bearing in the engine (it can be done with engine in truck
usually) it would be easier to do and it will boost oil pressure and
maybe cure your lifter problem too. If it does not then you could try
some lifter cleaner but I would not try it now as it could get oil
pressure dangerously low as you want at least 30 PSI warm (40 would be
better still) on a small block MINIMUM when it is hot and running about
1500 RPM or more.
