I have on order some anti dazzle HID's. Designed specially for standard reflector headlights ( non-projector )

I love HIDs, if you need any advice when fitting them, just give me a shout. :D

HID's are illegal without headlamp leveling and wipers, the new MOT may well fail them when it's fully implemented.
anyone who cannot see with the normal lights shouldn't be allowed out at night IMO.

There's always new things, apparently being implemented into the MOT......but most just get thrown out. It's a 5 min job to put standard bulbs back in, if it does happen. :)

I can see perfectly well with normal lights, but can see even better with HIDs. Wanted HIDs mainly for night laning, and dark dingy country roads. Plus I won't need main beams now. :)
 
Not a very dark night, but some night time shots of the HID's. :D also the Freebie feels alot smoother now, and no creaks so far (touch wood). :D

Cheers mate, no heat as there only 35w. HIDs don't need to be high wattage. No, not yet will get them checked tomorrow hopefully. Should be ok as the headlights were aligned. :)
 
Should be a straight forward swap, as the new bulbs are H7.

You need a 25mm hole cutter or flat drill bit (depending on the size of the rubber grommet). To cut a hole in the cover for the wires to go through. And somewhere to mount the ballast. :)

I'll have to wait and see what my kit is like. It is a 55w version that is canbus compatible.

Maybe...maybe not. A few years ago it was mooted that after market HID kits would be an MOT fail unless fitted with a self levelling system and washers, however what made it into the test was cars fitted with HID lamps may also have self levelling and/or washers - where these are fitted with HIDS they must work. In Northern Ireland it was worded slightly differently and some people with early cars with HIDS fitted as standard have had problems. I would add that I am not an mot tester, but have read a lot about the subject, so I may be wrong.

The other problem is most H4 kits are actually 1 lamp and a moving reflector, normal h4 bulbs have 2 filaments. Most of this type of kit don't fare well on the beam pattern test.

I believe the kits are technically illegal though, replacement bulbs fitted to cars after a certain date (1st August 1980 I think) should be "e" approved. Bloody Europe.....

Exactly, it's a grey area......so I'll just see how it goes. The bulbs in the facelift are H7. :)

Great lighting, definitely looks much brighter than the standard face-lift headlamps with Osram Nightbreaker Plus Bulbs!

Out of interest did you fit these? I remember someone on the forum recommended these in the past, but I can't remember who, sorry.

Or did you just get a generic HID kit off ebay, rather than take all your headlamp units to bits?

Either way, they are tonnes brighter and look like something off a Merc!

But those projectors do look cool. :)
