Hi to all.
As i mention on my introduction,i bot my first 4x4 on the end of march,i have been almost two years looking iand colecting informacion about reliability and cronic problems.
First i want a 5 door Di for his simplicity, but i'm studing in Lisbon, and the traffic make me consider the Steptronic, and the cabrio for the summer also will be great so i make the choice and start looking for a 3 door automatic......here in Portugal is no the easyest task, pleople simple don't like automatic cars, even they stay stoped in traffic twice a day......and for me the Land Rover will be my second car.
So i found the car,and after 3 or 4 days a made the deal,i take a very experiente mechanic from Land Rover, that drive the car for about 30 minutes, and said to me that it was good, but not 100%.
The gearbox was looking ok to,very smooth in gear changes, also in manual mode or Sport.
After 1 week i take the car to a freelander Specialist, for being serviced, and the surprises start to appear, for a car that look very good the real state of it,is at least choking.
Was found that the IRD was partiatly destroied,as well the rear differencial....so it was replaced:
Reconditioned IRD and Rear Differencial.
All the 3 rear differencial mouts
VCU and Bearings.
All the oil's replaced
And a full service to the engine.
After that,as pass 1 month,on April 2 i go pic the car,and hedded to an Automatic Specialist, for servicing the gearbox.......the last mechanic told me that he was shor that the gearbox is leaking, and i have sen'it,whit the engine on,in about 5 minutes, forms a circle of 25cm of oil on the floor,so it can't be good.
So the car stayed in tha garage for the men find the problem.....after a few days he call and i dident have good news.
The torque converter was from a scrap yard,he found the name and models righten on the converter, and the oil pump also needs replacing.
And after thar was found anouther very good surprise, the place where the engine and the gearbox join together, and its bolted, one of holes is brokken, but was in his place.....glued whit silicone.....so now if its not possible to welde that,i'm going to have to bye a engine......very honest guy the seller....so honnest that i'm thinking in issue him, because i don't think this is normal
So now all i can do is wait....and wait.....and save money for the repairs lol.
( sorry if i write something wrong, but its not very often to write in english )
Best regards to all.
