Hi all,

Well I've had the beast for a year now and I am still in love with it, well almost. We went for it's MOT today, all passed, but there is signs of a slight diesel leak on the o/s of the engine.

My first thought was a leak off pipe but, on further examination all dry on the top end, there is a faint smell of derv. Any ideas?

By the By parts wise for a years running I have spent;

£700 on front air strutts and compressor.
£650 on tyres.

I know the sceptics out there will say save the pound notes more to expense to come, but after owning Rangies for 25 years now nothing phases me, I just enjoy the experience.

Pipe which goes to the high pressure fuel pump is a common fail due to heat from the engine it's an inlet manifold off to get to it , happened on my td6 and the freelander I had . It's a simple fix

Glad to see your still enjoying your range rover ownership Alan :)

Best find that diesel leak, it will be costing you in fuel ! Lol

Hi Hippo

Tell me about it, there has been a slight smell of derv for some months now, but no visable puddles of the stuff on the floor, and top end is all dry. I suppose I was hoping to find a perished leak off pipe.

Sounds like you have a good'un there....long may it continue...:D

Could be an injector seal has gone and atomised vapour is escaping into the engine bay? Remove your engine cover and see if you can see any wetness or vapour. I've only had mine 3 weeks and have had a few electrical gremlins which a new battery sorted out, but love the ride and the presence on the road.

Hi all, just an update to my diesel smell, it turned out to be a perished rubber hose on the pipe that comes from the filter to the inlet side of the diesel pump. tried to get a replacement with no luck. Pirtek did a great repair on the ipe for only £11.97.

No smell of diesel now.
