Right thought i would post some pictures up for some entertainment and guidance on my project.

since im a newbie bare with me im doing my best.

(not very clean inside when i first got it so decided to take all the interior out to vax and shampoo all the carpets ect, will get a picture or it now its all clean)

Also are those wheel nuts used to secure the alloys to the hub?

If do they look like steel wheel nuts and can't be used with alloys.

Good luck with the project!

Stupid question from another relative newbie, why can n't steel nuts be used with alloys? Mine had them when I bought it, its had its wheels off at a major tyre dealers and they didnt comment, like wise when it went in for new brake drums and discs, no comment from the mechanic.

They will cut into the alloy wheels,
and potentially cut a new hole,,

No wheels at speed is not recommended..

They are of course referring to nuts designed for steel wheels, not just nuts made from steel. All the nuts are made from steel, but ones for alloys are generally a different design shape than ones for steels AFAIK.

Umm will investigate into the wheel nuts. i need to get rid of them horrid locking ones anyway.

Good point on blocks though, was in a rush and its all i could find around the place. Will prop it up with a stick aswell :D

yes Earthling you need to make it a lot more secure , there is more weight than you realise , be safe. . . . . .

Only got two pics from today. In between the great Welsh weather bucketing down with rain i managed to get the cat,mid and back box on. And also renewed the valve stem oil seals and lapped the valves back into the head.

Little update not been trapped under the car yet (fingers crossed)

Anything else i should really check out before i start to drive the car. tried going over it but haven't been through everything with a fine tooth comb.

i know the front anti roll bar drop links?? one of the rubbers has split so will be replacing those.

things i have checked/ sorted out:

New exhaust system
Repaired fuel tank holder and hammerited it
wired brushed most of the rust from the rear axle and painted that
undersealed/wax oiled the rest of the under body
checked all the lights they now work
new expansion bottle as it was cracked
still sorting the headgasket/timing the engine back up
once im happy that it runs i will probably take the wheels back off and check the brakes out.

Also done this one wheel up test for the vcu? seems fine but not sure

was told the clutch had been replaced so should be alright for a while

Anything else i really should check before using it or anything which needs checking in the future. (just reminded myself gearbox oil, ???transfer box??? and diff oils)
