Motors looking good mate, you've certainly had a baptism of fire with that one!

Can I ask what size tyres they are, you seem to need a lot of cutting and trimming to get them to fit even with the 2" lift! I'm assuming they're quite big like 265s?

I've provisionally bought a set of 235s and I'm hoping I can get away with a minimum of arch cutting. My Disco is a three door 300tdi though, so the rear arches should be a lot easier to do as I won't have to worry about back doors! It's also got a home made front bumper that will give a lot more clearance so with any luck ill be ok :)

Hopefully these 235/85s will go on a bit easier then, although they're of a similar height they're narrower so I'm hoping they'll clear the arches at the side and will only require cutting slightly at the front and back of the arches. One of the reasons I looked for a 3 door as I knew I'd be trimming the arches at some point! :)

Tried out the Discos roof rack, handy to have:

My mate gave me a set of ladder brackets, so a plan was hatched:

Welded a nut and washer on the end:

Cut the hook parts off and drilled some holes:

Marked and cut my waffle boards:

Tried them for size:

Welded some plate on to stop them dropping:

Drilled a hole and rivetted them in place to stop them spinning:

Cut down the bar and job done:

And as theyre ladder clamps theyre lockable too :)

Thats my reasoning for it. Plus you can climb out the window onto the bonnet to get them off and lie on the bonnet to place them down if need be ;)

Drizz I reckonise that user name and pictures of the discovery from over on audi-sport. I am dsmclark30v on there. you still building the overland defender?

Also what about defenders with spare wheel carriers on the bonnets with no wheel on it ;)
