I laughed at the pic of you getting towed! haha you know those wires are illegal to use on roads even though they look cool :(

yeah i know, i can see it now someone waves for a taxi as i drive past then i end up with an arm on my bonnet lmao

I leave my bush wires on all the time, have a traffic cop in e family and not even he has ever mentioned them! Think its one of those 'grey areas' lol

Well I got myself a disco 300tdi 1994 I did a straight swap for a frontera :) it came off road ready with 5alloys with road tyres and 5steel with 235 85 17 insa turbo mud tyres the truck is already lifted in spacers but also included was the suspension and springs to lift it another 2"
It has a starting /running problem where air was getting in the fuel line but that's been sorted now. I've only had the car 1 month and so far I've ....

New oil with flush first
Oil filter
Air filter
Fan belt
Lift pump
Track rod ends drag bar too plus tracking
Diesel filter
New rear break pads
Refurb front calipers with new pistons seals and bleed nipples
New intake hoses
Diesel leak off pipes
Glow plugs
Rocker gasket
Earthed all the light correctly
New injector seals
Cleaned injectors
Twin battery set up under hood
Got speedo to work
Replaced bias plate on gear box (hate pop rivets)so now I can find the gears
Radiator cleaned out and new coolant with distilled water as it had a higher boiling point all hoses checked and cleaned
Taken the intake and intercooler off and cleaned with petrol the washed in soapy water then I got the heat gun on them to dry
Still running diesel forte injector cleaner through the system
12v twin fluorescent light fitted in boot

The car is fitted...
Diff guards
Steering guard
Cb antenna and wiring
Touch screen Bluetooth with voice call that come through the speakers
Roof rack and ladder
Spot lights in front
Work light in rear
Snorkel
Rock sliders
Alloy cheque plate around the bottom if the truck
Cheque plate on rear door with makeshift drop down table
Custom steel front bumper with recovery points welded to the chassis
Adjustable/removable tow bar and electrics

Still have left....
New alternator
Grind rock sliders down as they catch
Re secure all fixtures and fittings inside the truck
Change suspension over
Fit poly bushes to suspension and radius arms
Refurb wheels back to black and sand and spray the alloy cheque plate then buff truck with a compound

Not bad in a month with the weather we had and I don't have a garage lol

Looks like you have been busy. Wouldn't bother grinding the rock sliders down as they probably won't rub when you get the lift kit on.

Pics look good!! Lots of mud :D

I leave my bush wires on all the time, have a traffic cop in e family and not even he has ever mentioned them! Think its one of those 'grey areas' lol

Surprisingly you're right. As they don't have sharp edges and don't protrude beyond the car then a cop or even an MOT examiner would be hard pressed to declare them illegal.

It's not a grey area. It is illegal to have them fitted on the public highway unless they were fitted as OEM. The only motors that I am aware of that had them as OEM fitment were some Camel Trophy vehicles.

i'll leave them off, they only take 30 seconds to fit. they are a home made job, just hook on a twist till tight

just had a new idea i've found some led spotlights on ebay using the same t5 led's i have in my torches so im thinking i should fit two to each side of my roof rack with separate switch for each side to be used as work lights also want to fit some to the rear, two more to come on reverse light and another two as work lights :)
i've also seen a heavy duty small air compressor that i'm thinking of connecting up under the hood with extended hose to reach all 4 tyres and then some just incase

the led's are only 3w 12v and 3 led's to each light
so 9w divided by 12v = 0.75 amps per hour
so for 1.5 amps per hour if working from one side with my twin battery set up i can keep the lights on for 12+ hrs with out the need to run the engine

i also have 2 more battery's that i might find a home for under the truck then with my inverter i can power anything any where well as long as its under 2000watts but a kettle is only 1000/1200watts

Well the alternator didn't last on way home from work on the dual track an the battery light came on so what did I do.... Put my foot down to get as far as I can lol but had to pull over when I seen the smoke lol I pulled up in the car park by a pub and opened the bonnet to plooms of smoke and a red glowing alternator, the bearings were shot and it was that hot it looked like it was going to catch fire so I stood on the bumper with cock in hand in the middle of the car park and cool it down lol at least the ****y steam covered me a bit

I've got a twin battery set up so I'm good for awhile and ill remember this for next time
Thanks

Managed to get an alternator but the only one I could get ASAP was a 50amp :( oh well it will do for now till I get a better one then ill have a spare 50amp for emergencys also replaced my manifold gasket as the other was split on the intake part

Question: how is the actuator operated on the turbo I was going to look but rain got to bad
Can I fit a boost controller not to wind up just to prevent chatter

How I got my injector out, it took me two days and a lot of wd40

Quick way to get the copper seal out, use one you already have out and find a long bolt that will screw into it and it pulls out easy, I tried everything this is the best way

So I cleaned it up and got the glue gun out and it's did the job perfect, not in a rush to get a new one now lol and I'm going to glue the next one on the bolts to keep them protected

if its a 300 you can't drive it without the alty belt as it will overheat and boil itself. its a serp belt that als drives the waterpump on the 300tdi
