Hi guys after much searching and changing of my mind I finally settled on a defender 90 1989 picked it up to day a few little jobs to do but who hasn't on a 22 yr old landy !

Jobs so far
Rear fog
Rust on front bulk head
Interior light
Rear door lock/alignment
Windscreen seal
Door seals
Front wheel wobble at 50mph

Any suggestions on the wheel wobble would be appreciated I'm gonna check wheel bearing then wheel balance it has range rover alloys on it but can only see balance causing my issue if I was the wheel.

Unless it's had disco, rang rover or later defender axles put on it, it should not have alloys on it and that could be your wheel wobble

Right steering damper on inspection looks well, shafted ! But how should it function same as a normal damper smooth and no leaks in guessing bushes on both ends of it are like dust. Ball joins seem ok wheel bearing ok weights still there I have a rear axle with disc brakes but I don't no about the front if it's non-defender. Swivel pre-load is a new one on me that'll require some research lol cheers so far guys if it helps narrow down any more it's only drivers side that wobbles.

check it like you do for wheel bearings buy trying to rock wheel with hands top and bottom any play will allow housing to move over ball ,there are two different preloads for swivel pins depending if bearing top and bottom or rialko bush at top

No movement in either orientation, so I'm thinking it is the damper but befor I tear it off could the damper cause just the one wheel to wobble, I no the Britpart name is well not good with suspension and other parts what are there bushes like mate of mine has a set of bushes for the damper but they are Britpart should I just get new ones if so any perticular that you guys would recommend or just go for oe ?

Cheers Lyndon explained about the swivels really well I'm gonna tackle it tomorrow day off I'll report back or ask more silly questions lol

Hi guys done some investigation looks like the rear track rod ends are gone and also the steering damper is shot lol so will get replacement parts fingers crossed that will cure my wobble !
