Low pressure return oil being blown out by crankcase pressure. There's a lot of it about. Usually under V8 Rover engines.

Wow! Are the metal clamps ok & not deformed? Is it 20Nm from memory, but i just used to nip mine up but ran a thin bead of RTV on the underside of the gasket as well as the notches.Check this out....

I replaced my valley gasket today. It was leaking at the back. Here's why! Both end seals are absolutely knackered. One is split right down the middle.
They're only 18 months old. Either I bought really **** parts or (more likely) the torque wrench I used to tighten down the clamp bolts was duff so I over tightened them.
I can't think of any other explanation.
