the disco has moved on with upgrades and sidegrades(not quite an upgrade but side step) me making my mark on it and doing things right rather than half arsed as i have since found out that the previous owner had done.

in the last two years of owning it i have replaced the front arches as they were rottern added Rockslider sills made from 120x80x6mm box section tree sliders made from 50mmx5mm Gaspipe (free as was reclamed)

rebuilt the rear axel
rebuild the swivels at the front about to do the Cv's

Blimey I remember seeing that for sale down the road from me! I was tempted at the time lol. Looks like you've had some fun with it. Nice looking vehicle.

Yer it's bees used well and truly needs a good clean but every time I clean it I go make it muddy again !!
The285/75/16 insas are 34" ( I measured them and loads of others say so too. and them bfg's were 34.5" so makes 1/4 inch difference in diff hight. Main reason for changing was couldent get them any more as they were mk1 MUDs which were discontinued years ago I begrudge shelling out 160180 for a tyre that's been sat about for years and years

yer there is just under 1.5" in it the insas come out at a nats whisker over 11" wide
and the 35s are a shade under 12.5" nice and noisy lo but i dont care about that lol

only option bigger than what i have is 35" symex,fedima(36.5") silverston(still 34") the fedimas are impossible to get hold of at the mo i wanted them but couldent get them

how have you found your shalft breakage rate?

that's some good news about the shafts hope fully i will have similar luck (but might just get my self a spare set if i can :)

i have been meaning to build the tree sliders for the disco for over a year, when i put on the rock slider sills the intention was to weld on some large sliders as i managed to distroy the steps (in the first picture) off roading against a tree

after managing to salvage some old gas pipe from the place i work which had a nice 5mm wall and aprox 50mm diameter its taken me a year to get the time to make them

here is a pic with no tree sliders only the rock slider sills
nosliders.jpg

one pair of sliders made up(they are the same length honest)
slidersoff.jpg

all tacked up and in position
sliderstackedon2.jpg

and after a bit of welding on to the box section sills finaly all finished and painted

Ive been meaning to do exactly the same !
I was going to get them bent , but I see you have welded the corners , what angle did you do them 45?

didnt take to long to do them to be fair. just getting the time to do it.

At the outside corners the angles are 22.5 on each piece of tube to make the 45 to run the tube paralell to the body then from the body is 45 giving a nice slant out to the parallel tube and adding up to the 90

then each of the supports are placed at the 1/4 line

thanks the paint work is nicely scratched but it is well taken care of where it matters.

yer i do have a little mini too heck of a difference driving them i tell u that much!!! il post a few picks of the mini up.
i go from 100ish bhp in a 2500kg car(disco)
to the best part of 200bhp (at the wheels) in a 700kg car(mini)
