Taken today.

Changed the clear backlights to standard style. In true Britpart style the bulb holders were useless. So used the o/e LR ones.

Also changed the connections on flexi arches to nut & bolt as the self tapers supplied are crap.

Aerial to be painted black. And I cannot remove the bloody thing!

It's proper stuck on there and my heat gun is at my mates house. I'll use the wife's hair dryer and try again. Still got loads to do. But it's getting there slowly. The wiring still needs accessing as it's pretty damn atrocious in areas.

You wanna see wiring issues

BTDT my good man, and I bought mine knowing it was fire damaged

Much more fun when you can figure it all out and make it run again :)

Rather you than me.

Walk in the park ;)

Had it up and running within a week, just got a bit too carried away and it has ended up in a full rebuild.

Might add the wiring was the hardest part as I am color blind  Everything works as it should and does what it is supposed to, apart from the tacho has a dodgy connection but will be remedied when the alt comes off for replacement with a 100A unit.

I know that feeling my 90 ended being a rebuild after needing a bit of welding.
Hmmm wiring and colour blind, Great combination :p
You fit another loom or repair what was fecked?

Stuff the previous owner put in ? Or original wiring that had been hacked about?
Either way it must be bad if you're breaking it.

For some reason plugs have been cut of. It has so much corrosion on plugs it's unreal. Keeps popping fuses. No windows work except passenger one. RCL packed up. The lights work and then don't. The rear lights have had plugs cut of.

The wiring on inner wing is shockingly ****. It's mechanically mint as I fit a new engine but I just can't carry on. I'm disappointed with myself for buying it.

Ah fair enough, Problem being is that you cant see some of those things before you buy, So when you get it home and start digging the more you dig the more you find, I have been there :(

My problem is I like things to be done properly so that's why I've decided to do this. I never cut corners and do everything the right way!

This was going to be a bit of wiring and a few patches to weld in and went south in a big way as the more I pulled it apart the worse it got :(

Went shopping in my spare room for a loom from a 300 and rebuilt it using sections of that.

AJC, I know exactly where you are coming from there, I did loads on my truck in terms of undoing bodges and cutting out poorly executed repairs, and yes there was some seriously poor efforts on the wiring, it just takes time and effort to source the correct components and rebuild it, although if it is a second Rover in your fleet then I see it perfectly for what it is, shame though, it would have been a very nice truck :(

I can assure you once the shooting season is done. My new one will be proper bit of kit.
