as with post 10 ,does fluid splash up in reservoir when pedals pumped ,is there a black deposit on bottom of res ,vac problems give a very hard pedal ,it is possible have a slight leak in which air enters but little fluid is lost ,

I AM NOT STILL DRIVING THE LANDY!!!
Other than up and down a dirt track to test it.

Ok that's good!!

I would try and bleed the brakes starting from the N/S/R then O/S/R then N/S/F then O/S/F.

If no better I would take each caliper off the see if the piston is getting stuck at all?? For this take pads out and pull caliper away from disc, them soak piston in WD40 or similar and use a small wire brush on the piston BEFORE pushing into the caliper or it will push all the crap in the caliper. Then it's a total strip down?!?!?
When you have cleaned piston ease it in and out using foot brake (gently) and big grips on caliper end.

Hope this helps

About not taking chances with brakes I remember a certain somone clamping off the rear brake hose with mole grips and driving a fair distance.

The answer is we all do stuff we . we all have. but do it knowing the issues no point everyone on the forum jumping in slagging this guy off because many of us do things we shouldn't many motors on the forum are boardering on Saftey issues. we hear daily issues and although the forum owns itself to mucho **** taking none of the slagging him off helps this guy out.

This is true.

PS I still had front breaks and only drove home following a friend so I would shunt a member of the public endangering lives.

My point was if you know your brakes are bad you don't continue to drive for weeks.
