Thought I would do a build/back story thread instead of filling the thread “what have you done”
I have had my Freelander for over 4 years now it was bought as a Work horse for doing the house out. I checked the basics for what to look out for which is how I come across landyzone.I found mine on gumtree which everything checked out ok and the price for the miles was fairly low at the time.
First was the basic service plus bmw breather mod, check other oils and do a wheel up test for the vcu everything looked ok the a week into owning it she broke down coming up to a roundabout and someone hit me from behind turned out to be the fuel pressure sensor after they fixed her other than changing front brakes and services that’s brings me up to now,I fully intended to sell her after the house was finished but with the bad weather we had up here she never missed a beat passing stuck shoguns in the snow she really supprised me,it was about this time I was bitten by the Freelander and understood why people love land rovers so much.So when the weather settled down and I had finished the back garden (she shifted about 8 ton of soil) I thought I would keep her and spend a little time and money on her. So far it has had done,

They where a hell of a lot cheaper then I have seen some go for recently £45 for the parcel shelf and £75 for the cover.Think one of the covers was over £130 with a day to go on it and the parcel shelf there’s one on for around £140,stupid money for what they are even at the prices I paid.

Interesting thread, she's looking good!
I think I'm developing a soft spot for 3dr fl1's o_O

If you don't mind me asking, where were those light bar brackets from, they seem to fit well.

Cheers

Ah ok, fair enough. I'll have a look on eBay.

If postage is a problem if you go for it I wouldn’t mind picking up and posting it think it’s around £10 to £15 through dpd and the likes, just some sellers can be a pain.

Found a boot protector on gumtree local.Fitted the rear spot lights and was given a 4.5 ton towing eye by my next door neighbors, painted that black and put that on.Fitted the rain cover and gave it a coat of fabsil and gave the car a quick clean and the parcel shelf, think I many have found somewhere in Germany that has stock of the shelf brackets just waiting for a reply to my email.

First picture with Just headlights on(Osram night breaker bulbs fitted)
Second picture front light bar and spots doesn’t look anywhere near as bright on the picture as in person, but had a nice light spread and spot, might need to aim the light bar a little higher.
Third picture rear spots, sorry for the poor picture 4 cars pulled in the car park in the middle of nowhere, might have been checking there lights?but they had a better light spread and where better then what I expected from them.Should come in handy when tailgaters get to close,I mean reversing at night. I’m happy with them just need to find a better place to check them and get some better pictures.

The light bar is very much brighter. The camera has simply reduced the exposure. Looking at the sky will show it's darker in the second picture, this proves the exposure has reduced. Also the trees in the distance on the second picture are illuminated, but they're in darkness on the first picture. So the LED bar is much brighter with a wider light spread.

If the trees are illuminated, the the light bar doesn't need to be any higher.

I love the light output that my LED light bar provides.

Cheers I will leave it as it is.The light output is fantastic gave me a shock when I put it on the first time.Do you know if led number plate bulbs are an mot fail? Or is it just hid and led headlights?

LED light bars are bright, some are brighter than others for the same wattage, depending on the type and quality of the LED emmiters used.

As far as I know, the new MOT regulations include all exterior vehicle bulbs, not just headlights. I've LED side repeater bulbs, which passed last year, this year I'm not so sure.
I also made own custom LED number plate light. I used warm white 6 LED emmiter array, so it looks like a normal bulb when a hand is held below it.
It's just 10 times brighter than the original 501 bulbs that are fitted.

Think I’ll just leave them in for it’s mot and leave 2 original bulbs in the car when it goes just in case, there not overly bright the leds.

Managed to get a sunroof storage bag, jack stand kit and another 3 door parcel shelf  just for the brackets so if anyone’s interested in it without the brackets looks in good condition only problem with it is one of the elastic rope and little tab is missing, will post an ad on here first in the parts section before putting it on eBay.

You are rapidly becoming the Freelanderer with the most bling :D

You're getting a quality collection of accessories there :)

Dunno whether all the back seats can take it but I would buy a 3 Door just for that cubby box that replaces the middle back seat - that is so RR/Rolls Royce :D I went to look at a Freelander once advertised as a 1.8 3 Door. When I got to the yard it turned out to be a 50th anniversary model and it had the rear cubby box - well desirable. Also lots of other bling including the rear parcel shelf - so someone spent good money on this when it was new. The bloke said that it may have a HG problem (no may about it - its a K Series!) and was sending it to a workshop for testing... I never saw it again after that. Then a couple of years later I happened to stumble on it for sale on Facebook Marketplace up in Auckland - over 1,000km from here. I Googled the plate and found that in the mean time it had been through a damaged car auction en-route to its current home. I contacted the fella selling it a couple of times, but he never got back to me :(

I can still see it on Market place, been there for months and months, but he won't reply!
