Don't worry about it... a 3.9 is nearly as gutless as a 3.5, insurance difference will be marginal.

I had no problems with insurance and a 4.0 litre V8 when I as 20.
 
Keep the updates coming! I've just got my V8 back together and running, such a grin when you hear it rumble and gurgle and burble.

Look forward to seeing it finished! So you're running a 3.5 block, a 3.9 or hurricane cam?, 9.75:1 pistons and a weber 500 carburettor? Should be good when it's finished! What cylinder heads are you putting on?

Its the modification part thats the tough bit like i phoned a few companies at that time and told them i had a 3.5 defender and they were like yea no bother 500 ish
Told them i put the 3.5 in and i only got 2 or 3 quotes all about 4 -5 grand 0_0
