Heres my series 3 2.25 L perkins engine landy, shes from 1981 and still runs after i rescued her from an old farm and brought it back to my farm, after running it backwards and forwards around the yard for 2.6 miles lol i decided to get it in the work shop and make a start on striping the rear body work. first i began my removing the old check plate floors and then pulled the seat box out which only seemed to have afew screws holding it in place, i then proceded onto removing the roof(safari roof) and it was extreemly heavy for two of us to pick up, i then removed the tub which i manged on my own with the telehandler, i have now been round with a tapping hammer to break through any rotten holes in the chassis ready for welding, i am now curently flap disking the rear end for paint and rust ready for the welding.. hope you enjoy my build as it goes on i will be posting regularly once i get back to it.

That chassis looks in very good nick. It's amazing how many older series chassis do ok. Better steel used than newer ones :rolleyes:
I would be investigating somewhere local who could galvanise that.
Bulkhead looks great too :eek: I'd be looking to galvanise that anorl.
Looks like you've done well there and acquired an excellent vehicle for a rebuild. :)
What condition is the front of the tub in, where it bolts to the uprights from outriggers?

thats in extreemly good condition will get some pics for you when am back at mum and bulk head is very good just small whole (probs 1cm) in side will clean around it and probs use filler in it or something were not that good at welding we could patch that up. chassis is very good just the holes at back has had some patches at eariler times and some of the welding isnt so good but any gaps ill fill with the welder

If your not that good at welding, then take your time identifying what needs to be done, then you could pay someone to do it for you all at once. Much better than filler :eek: You need to decide if you are doing a botch job or a half decent rebuild. A restoration is a different thing altogether. ;)

My step dad will be able to weld the chassis to a decent standard for me

I'm just thinking, if you want this back together again for passing your test, then it's going to be a rush job. :(

nooo it wont be rush job before i cna even use it on the road i have to save up 4k to insure it xD so it wont be soon, i gotta do is get the chassis done av said around mid-end of feb for that then get all back end together then get front end apart and then do the front half of chassis then thats it only really the chassis i am doing and getting the lights all working most work already like so jsut sorting some wiring out which i like doing, shouldnt be a rush job at all

Insurance :eek: :( Nightmare for new drivers these days. Do you intend to keep it or sell it on?

good question , am not sure on that as it is a petrol so expenisve to run but av been told the diesal ones are very very load and unpleasent to drive so am not sure yet would like to keep it since its my first project and then get another to do up and sell on sort of thing in the future
