I'd love to have been able to have done it myself. But I dont have the space or time to do it. Would have ended in a divorce:)


I intend on renting a workshop locally.
Have found a few at reasonable month by month rentals

Luckily Im not married and the current misses came after the Landy obsession so she can like it or lump it :D
 
im looking at a similar thing, new bulkead and respray, but shall probably do the spray myself, pretty handy with a spray gun, but wouldnt try metalic, would probably be a bitch
:p how much was your bulkhead ? dunno yet whether to go for good 2nd hand or galv, will depend upon price.
 
Looks really nice, good job. Particularly impressed you had to use it every day!

Mid way through mine (has been going on a while now). I'm doing all the work myself - perhaps foolishly. But mine isn’t my daily drive so it can spend months on end on the drive out of action - as it seems to spend most of its life currerntly!

New seats look bang on, what was wrong with the P38 ones? Was considering some for my 110.

What have you got the door cards/headlining out for? Some mega ICE system?

I took the headlining off to clean it, and havent refitted it yet as Im wanting to route some cable for a rear view reversing camera. Door cards will be going back on as soon as Ive finished putting all the door linkages back on!!

They dont go straight in, I was going to drill some new holes or weld to some strips of steel, and then bolt them in.

So would the seats be up for sale now? If so, I may be interested to fit them in my 110 :)
 
I removed my original seats and stood the P38's on the seat box. Your right in that they do lift you up higher, im 6ft 2" and could still see through the windscreen, but obviously not the same view as standard Defender seats. Though they would have been much more comfortable than Defender seats.

Have a look around also for some Saab seats as they are reproted to be an easy fit into a Defender.

JW, The security post is as strong as an Rhino on steroids, whos sole purpose in life is to refuse to move!!

Its not automatic, its a manual telescopic heavy duty post. It weighs 66kg but I paid extra for it to have a 'lift assist' mechanism to aid in lifting it up & down, this reduces the weight to 27kg. It has an inner and an outer core, and is worth every penny.

I always roll gently down the drive with the brakes half applied, just in case Ive forgotten to drop the post. One time I had, and when gently hitting the post the landie stopped with a thud, I didnt even feel a millimeter of movement in the post!!

The only problem it causes me is that my house is built on heavy clay, and so when the post hole fills with rain water there is nowhere for it to drain to, so I get wet feet when lifting it up!

The post is made by Marshalls and its part of their Rhino range, model number 'RT R14 HD'. It cost me about £500:eek:, they do cheaper posts but they arent as strong. In fact ive just bought a second one, but to overcome my poor drainage ive chosen a 'Lift Out' version of the same post. I bought it from Rhino Security, but you can buy them direct from Marshalls.
 
Lead farmer pop in and have a look at my head lining if your struggling to get your clean, I ditched the vynil and retrimmed it in a brushed vinyl as most modern cars are, Dove grey in colour with grey fasteners, cos of the dark interior the visors look the same colour so not had to retrim.
