Hi guys, tomorrow is the day when I finally bite the bullet and change the rear airbags. :eek: Also gonna change the height sensors!

What I need to know is after changing the sensors all info says I have to get them reset. Can the vehicle be driven before resetting?

With a bit of luck I should get it finished before next weekend!!:doh:

The practice demonstrated that if u disconnect the battery before u put the new sensors and they are genuine then u dont have to recalibrate(most of the times)....and of course the SLABS ECU is not faulty

air bags and sensors from paddocks. So I am assuming that they are not genuine LR parts!

Not sure whether current ones are faulty just thought that seeing as though its off the floor might as well do em.

Also when the air bag problem started N/S was sitting slightly lower after inflation, took it to private LR repairer who 'TRIMMED' the height. Would this mean that the comp. will hold the new bags at this lower level?

Bags from paddocks are OK cos they're Dunlop....if the sensors are britpart there were some complains on them......if u replace just the bags the height will be the same as before. The sensor replacement is an easy and quick job so u better be near a nanocom when u replace them....in this case u will be able to adjust the hight as u wish.
 
Thanks for that. Gonna just do the bags first. If all is well then sensors can be for future. Mind you its a landy so probably next month:D

Right job done. Followed the instructions off here to a tee and refered to
www.discovery2.co.uk aswell.

All done as already said by others quite an easy job to do. Just one problem we came up against. The bags from paddocks have a different connection for the air pipe than the old ones.:doh:.

After a few minutes of blind panic - realised there were instructions in the box and so you just cut off the old nut and push the pipe into the valve on top of the bag. HEY! PRESTO!:D

Did not do the sensors and the car has levelled out nicely so will keep them for when they are really needed - probably a month or so:rolleyes:.

My bags, also from Paddocks, arrived yesterday morning. I also followed the instructions www.discovery2.co.uk.
Unfortunately I awoke this morning to find the Disco squatting just like normal :(. I've also just noticed that a ride height adjustment sensor arm has split, so more work to do!

Here's hoping that your disco is fine tomorrow.

Bad luck with the sensor.:doh: Mine looked ok although caked in ****e. Didn't fancy changing them without nanocom nearby.
Mines doin fine (so far):rolleyes: just gotta get it checked to make sure it is at correct ride height.

Car was on floor this morning!! I spent most of the day checking for leaking pipes/valves etc. have degreased all compression joints, stripped valve body and cleaned it, even stripped/cleaned wastegate in compressor. Now looking forward to tomorrow morning.....if its still down then, I'm running out of ideas!

Chris you are obviously more competent with me when it comes to this stuff!!:D BUT- this might help in the short term. In the last few weeks of mine playing up I noticed that it usually only went down after parking on the drive. We don't have a drop kerb so reverse up slowly.

I decided to try sometrhing and it worked. When you park up - turn off, remove keys, get out and lock up as normal. Then open up, put keys back into ignition and run for 30 sec. just to get compressor going. DON'T GET IN! Turn off again and lock up as normal.

When I did this it never went down again. I think the dropping is linked to driving the car. Also had the three amigos twice recently and bags dropped whilst driving. So hopefully the have vamoosed as well.

Oh well, car is down again this morning!
I went out last night and started the car (left on driveway) inflated the bags then detached negative battery lead (to rule out any electrical problem) has not helped. Now suspecting valve block/compressor exhaust may have very slow leak. I think today's fun activity will include working out how to test this.....possibly detach compressor exhaust pipe from silencer and stick it in some water?

I think this job looks very expensive especially as I'm about to have a hub body plus discs and pads replaced later today!!
