Hi,

Having a few different problems with my 2004 td4 commercial.

  1. Sometimes when trying to start the engine, i turn the key and i get a high pitched whirring sound. Then i will try agin and it will start ok.
  2. While sitting around 70mph, i can feel the speed fluctuate, it will slow down slightly before speeding up again, as soon as it speeds up the engine management light comes on, it goes off again when i slow down to about 50mph.
  3. Traction control light and hill descent light come on all the time, usually after breaking or when slowing down with the gears.
  4. While speeding up through all the gears, i hear noise that sounds like the fans blowing, it stops as soon as i take my foot off the accelarator.
I recently had my clutch changed, soon after i had to return it as i had problems getting it into gear, i got this fixed but now the problem has returned and it is going back in this weekend, the Mechanic said it was the hydraulic cylinder which he will fix.

Has anyone on here experienced these same problems as me, any ideas how to fix them or what parts i need, and if they could be directly related to having my clutch changed: ie poor workmanship?

Thanks

sh1t i hope not, i forgot to mention that the intermitent setting on my window wipers does not work properly, they will stop at the fully extended position, what do i need to buy to fix this.

i am trying to sell this pile of junk so i can buy another one!!

item 1 could be starter failing to engage with fly wheel, maybe starter on way out, or starter ring damaged.

items 2 and 4 - check for a split intercooler hose, especially where the long one passes across the top of the engine as it rubs on the screw.

item 3 - check/change brake light switch above brake pedal, tis quite cheap. also check connections to HDC switch under gear stick, common for them to break off and cause problems

would be hard pushed to see any of these related to clutch change unless something was disturbed.

good luck

Dare I say, there are lots of :search:terms there! ;)

hi danboy, just a point on your clutch prob, was the slave cylinder renewed when the guy did your clutch? if it was then your problem sounds like the master cylinder.most of the other probs sound like simple fixes as others have advised .tim

i'm not sure about this one? will find out when i return it to the garage.

checked under the bonnet and sure enough the hose frm the radiator was burst, this has now been replaced and the noise has stopped.
