Mud terrains tend to have more resistance than normal due to the large tread, therefore can impact on MPG. But it's not huge, I get approximately 375 to a tank, mate with chunky tyres [don't know brand] gets approximately 340, but he's got a lead foot, and mines an auto [ so a useless comparison:confused:]
Only thing I would say is don't drive fast [over 60mph] with them on as it could damaged them,.

Chunkey muds, do kill the fuel consumption by around 3 mpg.

But even suggesting not to drive over 60 mph, is a bit harsh.
Depends on the ratings, and load your carrying.
I will punch my 4x4 up to the ton, on the muds, with no dram at all.

Ok so you take your q rated(99mph) tyres up to a ton on a regular basis. Each to their own. All I will say is it's your life and I hope your tyres don't give out on you.
I only give my opinions to help others and hope to keep an eye on safety. Being in a job where I drive alot and rely on being able to for a living, I am amazed on a daily basis by the stunts people pull on our roads and the danger they put other peoples lives in with their inconsiderate behaviour.
But this is just my opinion and you may take it or leave it.

I do not wish to start an argument.

Tyres SOLD.

Along with this comment, I don't think that the Mud tyres affected the mpg that much at all! The reason for selling was due to road noise and that I plan on selling the Freelander soon.

I never had a problem getting up to speed and I would say that it performed very well and very smoothly on a motorway run.
