Automatic transmission fluid that's to Dexron specification 2D or 3, or as they list it Dexron llD lll, 3 is an improved 2D.

So if your mates shop sells Comma as Comma do a ATF (look at their site) to the Dexron spec and if your still talking to him, get some. :)

All the oil companies Esso, Castrol, Mobil etc etc do an ATF to the spec or better .

I had to get some mtf94 last week and its a pig to get hold of it, land rovers had some on the shelf if you get really stuck...

Morning all,
Iv just been down to me mates shop to see if he could get me some MTF94 Gearbox oil, he tells me he has 'Comma gear oil SX75w-90 Semi-synthetic GL-5' which is the equivalent. Please can anybody tell me if this is ok for the box.

Your mate knows jack shît about oil then. A GL5 oil is an Extreme Pressure hypoid oil completely unsuitable for the gearbox.

Ok, just to clarify, iv been and picked up 'Dexton II automatic transmission fliud to put in a manual box.

It's DEXRON II or III (3 being the newer std) and yes, it'll be final in the manual gearbox. As it's so much cheaper you can afford to change it often, too!
