Generally the R380 is considered an upgrade from these boxes.

They suffer premature bearing wear, the later suffix R380's were similar in strength, but you will get a smoother box that will last much longer.

But I like the look of this nice adapter plate to fit the six speed box up to I just don't know if this is a mt82 or mt85..... From the little info I've found the mt85 is an 82 but with some LT parts.....?

If your going for a merc box you want the early 2.9 sprinter one.
I could still go that way and probably get one very easy as I'm doing a lot of alloy wheel welding repairs for a merc breaker.

front springs are on upside down ,,progressive part goes to the top ,,,and mud will not get stuck ,,nice chassis and engine :rolly:
