Just brought her.

She is a 1985 Landrover Defender 90. She has a perfect Chassis & bulk head with only a very light surface rest on the corner. She could do with a re paint but thats not the end of the world and the interior sorting out a little but all in all shes a good little buy i think.

The only thing is though is that im a total novice at landrovers. I can strip and build a bike no problems but a landrover i have not a clue haha.

Any tips ideas etc for me to keep her well please let me know Also if there are and bits i need to add to the shopping list also please let me know haha

so what do you think? Im chuffed to bits!

looks nice mate. have fun with it.
if you dont know when the oil was changed last, that's a good thing to begin with

Check all of the fluids, (oil, steering, clutch, break), Have a look at the air filter. Check all lights etc work as they should. Once you're confident everything is working as it should, start buying things :)

Best just to replace all fluids and filters unless your certain its been done recently, grease up all greasable nipples.
If you have to replace parts keep the old ones, sometimes you can get them reconned cheap and keep them for the future.

Thanks for the feedback guys I'm collecting it in couple of hours very excited! I shall get
Underway soon on it! 1450 I paid for it well chuffed with that price

nice

nice price if its had a 200tdi dropped in it

looks like it with that air intake riveted on to wing

That looks all right to me !
and for 1450, if she's structurally ok ... you cannot possibly go wrong.

Mine's a 'C' reg pre-defender 90, so not vastly different ... and the things are brilliant...
sure, it needs its ego stroked a bit, and constant fettling and so on, but thats what the fun is ... sometimes you end up cursing it's very existance, but that never lasts long... keep treating the old girl to a few presents, and she'll bimble along forever.

Nice one... hope it lives up to all expectation !

Come back with an update once you get her home :D :D

Well the Update is here.

First of all driven from the place to a petrol station. Fill her up with diesel (shes the none turbo 200 made for EX Mill) so got on the open road and driving along. Pulled over and my dad said that the rear brake lights out i said the horn didnt work other then that! It was perfect. the more i drove it it just got better and better. I need the Trackrods done but he supplied them and told me it was an advisery in Jan. ALl in all the landy is the total nuts! Love driving it and took it across a field as well (its ok i new the person who owned the field)

I got home un done the rear brake light on the RH side to find the bulb resting in there haha and same for the reverse light so its all working perfectly!

The only thing i can hear is when its on full lock reverseing it squeeks but i think thats the trackrods. Anyway i have a haynes manual coming and all is going ace.

All in all i have given up motorbikes for this and im chuffed to bits! Need to meet some Essex people now for some green laning fun Oh and TIPS! haha

i give you a tip if it doesn't sound right it prob isn't so get it fixed because if not it will fall off, expect the unexpected and if you take it off road never over estimate you car! If you get all brave and do anything that includes any kind of wiring then tread carefully because i think most defenders where wired by stevie wounder, basically its shiz apart from have fun :D
