Hello all,

What sort of MPG should I be getting from my Td5 Disco?
141K on the clock, full service history??
I think im getting about 20???? Seems worse than my old M Reg V8!!!

Judging from what others say between 25-30 is the norm, but like any car does depend on your driving style, load and traffic conditions.

I have a year 2000 with 108K on the clock. I'm getting 22 mpg, but do have the added weight of a winch bumper, winch, tree sliders, and snorkel.

I get early 30s; I think. Y plate 2001ES with 7 seats, 148000 on clock and is about the same as both previously owned 300 & 200 series.

give it a good service, change fuel filter, ive noticed a positive change in mpg since i started using veg oil mix. even before i was getting 30mpg, im impressed with mine to be honest

I get 22-25mpg arounnd town and 25-28 on a run out of my 110 with 265/75/16 special tracks 130k on the clock and weighing in at 2.5 tons at all times. Seeing as the disco has the higher geared transfer box I would say that 20mpg is definately not right.

the only thing ive learnt about mpg on the td5 disco 99 auto is on a run between 25, 30 round town frightened to check!but mine seems to do bettter mpg when towing caravan than when solo on a run same speeds same driving style ????

I know what yer mean. I'm often amazed at how close the mpg is when I go offroad to what it is on road. Especially when you consider I'm generally in low range offroad.

i very rarely go in low box apart from steep climbs or power sapping mud or deep water
the td5 90 used low box just a couple of times went far better in high

I find that in high range the turbo keeps kicking in and out as I tend to drive right on the border of it being needed or not. In low range I can keep it much smoother. I tend to drive in low fourth most of the time.

yeah but you duz drive like a gurl

Hi,my T reg td5 averages 28-32 mpg.It is a manual-autos will drink more and fitting bigger wheels/tyres doesn"t help.Dunno if the latter applies to your Disco.

Mine an 03 auto and not good on juice 20 mpg is the norm. I've even tried cruise con at 40 and not much better really.

One thing that has improved it is higher tyre pressure (40psi all round), de cat down pipe, egr junked, new air filter.

i can scrape 30 mpg if driving like my mum.
