What should be expected from a 2.25 petrol with no overdrive? I am hearing many different things and would be nice to get an average.

60 is a good cruising speed. Anything over is a bit loud and terrible on fuel. and i acerage about 22 mpg

Wow that's fantastic. I keep mine to 40 mph, 50 mph absolute max (before ears start to bleed). However, I only get about 12-15pmg from my 10 gallon tank.

My experiences also is that of 40mph and similar mpg.

Mine is a station wagon, so I don't know if they have higher gearing, but I reckon to get 18-19 mpg. I can wind it up over 50 if the road is long enough, but I might cruise a little slower than that. I always find the gears make so much noise I can't hear the engine!

sounds like you're running in low range most of the time, have a lead right foot, engines knackered, carb needs setting, timing setting/renewing

your mpg is about the worst i've heard of

Yeah you have something wrong with your cars if you are struggling to get 50 MPH!

Can you really cruise at 60mph without an overdrive?

I keep trying to find out top speed for a Petrol 2.25 without overdrive and standard tyres and diffs but keep hearing numbers that would mean the engine is revving like an F1 car!
