Moving the exhaust on my 90 (200tdi) so it exits the body on the drivers side.
Any one ever done this?
My little Disco rear box will now be cross ways behind the rear cross member.

That's the plan anyway:rolleyes:

Cant believe no one has tried this, box is going just behind the axle now in line with chassis then a 90deg bend and pipe running just behind crossmember and out through the rearmost body mount.

Thinking of coming out through the body but dont really want to cut a hole in it.:)

Think the general idea is to shorten the run not make it longer.

Will I destroy the performance by altering the exhaust system?

Its only about the same length as a 110 now, straight through exept for half a Disco tail box about 3 feet from the end of the pipe:)

quite a few people do side exits, you can trims an alsorts

Dont want to cut my lovely blue body:D

Just want it on the drivers side so I can watch for smoke and hopefully listen to a nice exhaust note:)

Got the exhaust all welded up (badly but solid) and painted today.
Most welds were great but stainless pipe to mild steel box, then stainless to thin flexi pipe was interesting
All painted in heat proof gloss black, well from transfer box back anyway, the front section and manifold are in very high temp satin black.
Back box will be across the chassis behind the rear cross member, tail pipe (not pictured) will exit through the rear body mount and come out opposite to where it would normally

Hope to get it in place tomorrow and start on the mounts:)

Please do not post any more pictures until you have put the safety guard and handle back on your angle grinder

or post lots of the carnage that WILL happen if you dont

No it wont, very careful with it and treat it with respect, think twice cut once:)
Got to cut pipe up again, fitted it today and the box is too close to the rear crossmember so have to cut a piece out of it and reweld:rolleyes:

Case of I should measure twice and weld once :D

Been at it with the grinder this afternoon and almost finished the exhaust.
Made another hanger bracket for the nearside of the box, have to make a support for the otherside and tailpipe.

Tail pipe position not final but approx where it is going to be, its the tailpipe from my old V8:)

+1 i managed to slice my hand a couple of months back, due to no guard
didnt really hurt just blood everywhere,

Decided on the route my tailpipe will take and sorted the pipes to suit, left end piece loosely fitted so as I can get the body back on. I'll drill the hole in the rear panel then fit the tail pipe end to finish it off.

Should look ok and I'll be able to hear it and watch for smoke as well;):) and I hid the grinder:D:D
