Dunno how to break the news...but here goes.

Put Er' Indoors 1.1, Mitsubishi Colt in part ex. for....wait for it......a Gaylander:eek::eek::eek:, added to the shock of that, it's one of those TD4 tractor thingies and I know jack **** about doozles:confused:
Got a few jobs to sort out but after owning a P38, 4.6 for a good many years and experiencing the hassles, I reckon me & RAVE can handle it.
Er Indoors aint too happy :mil18: but I have been stagnating here not having dirt under my fingernails for ages !!

Now I have come clean..I'm off before the slagging starts !!!

what year is it ?

the TD4 is a cracking engine. I had a 2000reg XDI L series doozle 3 years ago, then traded it in for a freelander sport which i kept for 9 months.

the running costs and parts are cheap as chips in comparison to Range rover parts !

It's a 2002, ES.

Got to change the PCV valve and check the brakes over for starters but I got 400 + miles from a tank of tractor juice which aint bad...never managed that with the old 4.6 HSE !!!
Was very tempted by a 2.5, V6 ES Premium with all the bells and whistles, one owner FSH and 41k on the clock but the guys on the "Other side" talked me out of it, telling me that the V6 engine is a disaster waiting to happen. .Bit like the V8

Oh nice

You should have gone a bit later and got the facelift model
There much better

I don't know why Landrover owners have such a downer on the Freelander. I'd be perfectly happy driving one - and I even like shagging women!

Well I suppose the Gaylander could have been replaced by "The Evoque" as the bottom of the pile, thats if the E-vomit manages to get on the first rung of the ladder or even managed to drag itself there to start with at all.

Welcome back, I suppose we will have to check the Gaylander section if we want to hear from you now.

A chap I know with one raised two valid points about Freelanders which had me contemplating one.

1: They are cheap enough to buy and run. His is covered in battle scars from things getting a bit rough.
2: More women drive Range Rovers than Freelanders.

Mornin Keith....I shall be sharing my time on both forums.
You had your way in the end and got me driving a diesel :eek:- got to brush up my skills on tractor engines now !!!

One good thing, no problems with Becm's, immobilisers, EAS etc. just the rear transmission....VCU's and IRD's !!!

The trick to small dervs, rag the balls out of them. Dervs love the be loaded, the harder they work, the more economical they run. They aren't designed to be driven like your ganglies are under the throttle pedal and tend to suffer for it in the forms of excess generation of soot. That is a very bad thing if you have a DPF as they get clogged in no time. So drive it like you stole it.

My cousin had a Freelander mk II TD4 for years. He covered nearly 500k miles without missing a beat.

Of course, that says nothing about the Freelander mk I!

Its a sad day,,,,, sold his P38,,,,,,, Moved from the land of the Dark stuff,,,,,,,,, Bought a gaylander,,,,,,,, He will be coming out of the closet next....

You just wait untill
You want to do an oil change if its any thing like the k series you have to strip half the car to get there ,have fun
