Ey, i got my self a pullbar to my freelander 1.8, but can't find any manual for it, have someone ever mounted this pull bar before?

As is often the case when buying accessories 2nd hand - an important bit is getting all the fixings! Hopefully you have them.

I have the black rubber padded A bar on my Freelander.

Its primary mounting is 2 brackets that are bolted to the metal bumper under the plastic cowling/valance. You can see the 2 brackets in this pic...



The plastic covering has holes cut in it for the brackets to poke through.

Like on your bar, mine has brackets at the bottom, but they are longer than that. They are secured by 2 bolts that also secure the under tray.

In the LR Rave workshop manual there is a section on fitting accessories (basically the instructions that came with them) - if that is a genuine bar, there may be instructions for it in there. You can find info on downloading and using Rave here (you need a Windows PC to run it on)...

This is what my A bar looks like...



The little grey tabs cover the bolts that go through the bar fixing to those brackets. The brackets at the bottom of the bar slot through the gold valance.

Just found a close up of the bumper brackets...

If i'm missing installing brackets i could make my own, but the metal bracket you are taking about is the one under the engine(front of engine?)

Different bars use different brackets. Unfortunately if you don't have the instructions or fittings, then you're going to have to guess what will be needed.
That's not an LR bar, so LR instructions probably won't help.
From memory, LR only supplied "safe" soft bars, so your metal bar isn't an LR part.

Okay, gonna have to try take off the front bumper today and fit it, talked to a swedish person, he Said that is was just installed into the steel brackets under the car so have to try something like that.

Looking at the pic didn't look like there were any fixings other than the bottom.

I don't really know where you are going to get a good fixing to.

All the weight and main strength on mine are the brackets on the bumper. The bottom brackets simply stop it pivoting and I'm pretty sure are not really necessary. In fact the fiddly job of getting the under tray off and on is made even more fiddly by those brackets and I don't even secure them now.

I don't think you could use those screws for fixing either because there would be so much stress (through leverage) on them, as only fixings, that it wouldn't work.

Hope you can sort something out, but you're going to need to put your thinking cap on.

If you haven't taken the plastic bumper covering off yet - that will be your first brain teaser All the little screws around the edge will probably be rusted out so you can't undo them, and there is a hidden bolt up under each wing that is a PITA to get out, and even worse to get back in. It is best not to try and work out how the clip up under the wing works either - I've removed these covers a number of times and I still can't work them out - just pull or push and by magic they work - if you line everything up correctly!
