Hi everybody, this is my first post, so forgive me if this is in the wrong place or if it has been asked (and answered) already.
I've just returned from a six week tour of France and Italy in my Defender and an Oztent. It was great but I think I could improve the experience if I were to get a decent Discovery and do a DIY motorhome conversion - ie put some sort of bunkbed set-up into it. Any ideas or thougts?

By the time you had finished building it it would have started to rust and need rebuilding again.:D

You could cut the roof out and fit a dormer type raising roof to give head room. I know there was a range rover classic carawagon conversion. Very cramped though.

I slept in my disco at the weekend on a double air bed set up in the back with the seats down bed fit perfect width wise but was about 2 ft too long so the extra bit was stuck up the back door so I didn't nut it while trying to get in through the rear side door while ****ed, did this cos the seat metal bits would have punctured me bed if i'd put the excess bed up against it. Once in and laid accross the motor diagonally in the foetal position I achieved a reasonable nights sleep until awoken by another drunken oaf when he was climbing up top to stare at me thru me rear sunroof  moral of the story discos ok for 1 night on yer own or with a small framed lady (that also woke me at one point:D ) ****ed up at a bbq in a shed in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of delinquent trattor boys. But a 110 or 130 would be better for more frequent civilised use :D

A 110 hard top is long enough in the back to kip in. Best way to turn a disco into a camper is to stick a caravan on the back of it.

For the sake of clarity If you push the front seat as far forwards as it will go and wind the seat back all the way forwards. Then fold the back seat down, it is possible fora single airbed & 1 person to sleep full length in a disco. OH and you'll need a box the same height as the folded down seat, to go in the load area, for the airbed to rest on.

my two door rangie is way big enough with an empty payload area for me an Mrs BoB on a blow up dingey.im also 6.5ft so its ok with the passenger seat way forwards fer me feet...

i like sleeping with me heed at the back so in morning we can pop tha tail gate for a view and sex....

Didn't know airbeds had to sleep :D

Tried it out today, prior to this weekends green-laning weekend courtesy of 90boy ... just out of casual interest like ... and even a short fecker like me (5' 4") couldn't sleep in the back of the disco with the seats folded down .. well, not laid straight out anyway. If the rear seats were removed it'd possibly be feasible, but mine's a 3 door anyway so access might also be awkward .. ;)
