I count myself lucky then. I've both an Indie & a small garage only 10 mins. walk away. The RR goes to the former, our 'daily' to the latter & both to the garage for MOT's at £40 - the owner of which values his regular customers.

I reallise that, it comes from the government website as per the address bar carefully left in the screengrab to show the source.
It wasn't supposed to be a criticism of the original link, just another govenment admin failure (though the official testers handbook is also available in pdf from the site in the grab as an alternative to the original link if anyone wants to reference an "official" source when arguing with a test station).

At one time you needed to be a five year time served mechanic with two years further experience to be an MOT tester. Now you need an NVQ and have swept the garage for twelve months. There are a lot of dickheads doing MOTs. Most of the people who work for VOSA don't know their arse from their elbow. Paper shufflers most of them.

The last 2 years i have put my 90 in for mot knowing it had blatant fails but thinking once i have a list off of the tester of what else needs doing i can fix it all and away you go, both years he has passed it , i honestly think they dont look if theyre busy and just issue the ticket.
