Td4 MOT tomorrow. Fitted an EGR bypass few months ago. Still have the EGR but it hasnt been cleaned.

Mine passed with the EGR blanked. I suspect they’ll only look for a bypass if it fails the emissions test. Chance it and let us know how you get on.
Has anyone on here reported an MOT failure due to a blanked or bypassed EGR? Don’t think so.

MOT Emissions results
Av reading 0.10 1/mPASS
Drift 0.00 1/m
Smoke temp min 20 max 24
Fast Pass Limit 1:50 1/m

03 td5 90 todays MOT results with egr bypass, thats better than most cars built in the last two years!

Me brother's '52 Td4 has just passed with the delete fitted, passed with flying colours, the examiner remarked "Your emissions are silly clean". I think he was talking about the car.

The TD4 is a very clean burning engine. Fitting an EGR delete won't change that, well not for the MOT. In fact if the induction system is cleaned out when the EGR delete is installed, the engine will burn cleaner than before it was installed.

The EGR is there to reduce NOX emissions, which aren't even tested at the UK MOT.
The UK diesel engine test is a simple smoke test, which measures soot particulates in the exhaust gasses. A correctly running diesel should have no trouble passing the test.

I cleand my EGR and refitted it for the MOT - only takes a few minutes - also got a look down the inlet tract and it looks just clean and oily after circa 10k miles on the bypass - clamped the vac pipe to the EGR 'cos i did not want to ingest any accumulated crud behind it. I don't know if I'll bother to refit the bypass - just leave it clamped off

I'm going for a walk down the main street later and wondering if I should take a chance on mugging an old lady? I mean....that law is a bit inconvenient....surely it won't apply to me? :D:D:D
