Exhaust hangers on the exhaust side are getting pretty corroded. For extra security just in case one of the hangers breaks I have strapped the exhaust up loosely with copper wire (heavy earth wire with plastic stripped off). Just wondering if this is OK for MOT?.

Thanks

Mike

Iv been told by mot testers that as long as its secure they cant fail it, iv had my mechanic do something similar with metal banding as a temp fix just to get it to pass then sort if properly later, dont think it will be an issue unless your tester is realy looking to fail it for some reason.

I've used some really big thick cable ties on a Vito I had, in the end every exhaust mount was one, and they lasted the three years I had it, sailed through each time, and are probably still going strong!!

You can get very strong stainless ones used for keeping cables up in event of fire, they are very very strong and dont rust, or wear, available from electrical wholesalers and proberbly auto factors too, always handy to carry aswell.
