Hi All, I do all my own diagnostics/maintenance/repairs/welding on my vehicles, but DVLA/VOSA doesn't seem to like home grown MOT certs...so my question to our knowledgeable members in the Chesterfield area is this.....

Can someone suggest a MOT Station, that will inspect the vehicle correctly/fairly to the MOT standards and doesn't see it as a possible profit generating scheme.

Because with me they will have just lost another possible customer in the future...

I trained as a Commercial Vehicle Mechanic, so won't stand a load of "Old Bull"....

Addresses, phone numbers if possible please....

I don't know the Chesterfield area at all, but here are two ideas where you should be able to get an absolutely fair MoT test done:

Your nearest VOSA testing station, where they normally do HGVs, they will do cars as well.

Believe it or not, try your local council's vehicle depot. Check out this website - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-mot

In both cases, they don't do any repairs so it's not in their interests to fail a vehicle for something they just happen to have the spares in stock for.

Personally I mot mine at kwikfit cos they don't do vehicle repairs so I've never been scammed by them

I've used the LDV garage on chatsworth road for the past few years and i've found them very fair. if anything failed they'd spend 5 minutes showing me what needs to be done rather than them trying to get the work. I'm always polite and dont make a fuss if im kept waiting. free re test and i think the test is 30 quid.

Hi Rasher, I'm total newbie to the Chesterfield area, the wife has moved in but I'm travelling up/down the A1 moving the household bits and my collection of workshop bits.

I've found Chatsworth Road but can't seem to locate the LDV garage on the web, any chance of a better address/location, please.

Council depot and watch them do it

Your already allowed to watch them mot a vehicle, I've tried a council before but the mot inspector was so picky it was a laugh, I'd prefer to use a known sensible MOT Station...

Will do..

MOT's not due until Feb but having just moved up (still a couple runs to Essex to do...:eek:).

Better to find a place, sooner than a last minute panic.
