Just an update, I know I saw a thred the other day asking if people would update threads if they could with what they did in the end.

Well I ended up going to greasse monkeys in birkenhead docks.

They wellded two new out riggers, provided and fitted a new pwoer stering box, fitted new seals to the power stearing pump, fitted all new trackrod ends, that i provided alonger with new repeaters.

As well as doing some extra wellding on the bat box and sorting out some wiring problems aprently some one had use house hold fuzes and wire. orignal quote was 389, ended up being £497. Ether way was prob still cheaper than the other quotes i had got.

If the rest of the chassis is worth repairing/keeping then i'd say it's a good time to get underneath with a steam cleaner and some hammerite. Chassis replacement is a mammoth job and, unless you have cash to burn, something to be avoided.

A lockable fuel cap is £50.0 -55.00' I have the same type the cheap ones on eBay are to small, when I was looking I phoned the eBay shop and they gave me a part number NRC 9572 just checked that's the none locking type, like you have currently. Hope that helps a little Steve.

You cant get a locking fuel cap for that year iirc.. i ordered one from ebay and it was too small..i put a latch and padlock on the bodywork so that the cap cant be removed..

Sounds like the tester was an arse..rubber seal/ring from paddocks/craddocks. Next time you need a mot, pm me.

Well He did say that with some "heavy" welding it might last a few years, It had already had a new rear section added so the back is good just think every think else is bad.

Think its going to be case of new one, I need a knew bulkhead at some point or mine repearing, the passenger side looks like it is going to go at some point.

Ended up going back to a different mot place that did not even mention the seal in the end, thou i got a new cap with one off the net for £1.20.

Well done We5ley, sounds like youve made it worthwhile for another years motoring...
Ive got the same to come i would think, a C plate ninety with patching to the chassis required and a few other issues no doubt too! Carry on !

I was chatting to a local MOTer (not the one I use) who was saying that when something comes in with loads of obvious, easy fix faults (bulbs, wipers mainly) he goes to town on the vehicle and let's the owner get away with nothing, whereas if the owner obviously keeps on top of things like that he's a bit more inclined to help them out...that could be why this MOTer picked up on petty things?
