 I was only kidding about the mark up! Yer I might try and push for a few more quid, but they are still the cheapest in the area- and seem like a nice bunch of lads. I am having the tracking checked as the passenger front wear was out quite a bit.

:Dthat would be telling, thats where the killing is made put it this way i can beat the price you have had from kwik s**T this time they have not been that greedy must be the cold air, tell em you can get em cheaper but dont take the p you can actually knock them down they will look on the puter and check trade price and will re price you afterall they are after the trade and are pushed hard into selling everyday, prepared to be talked into a wheel alignment and other things aswell:D
I did something similar with two local tyre centres, I was given a quote by one as a + VAT price. I told t'other that price was including VAT and they beat it. :D I suppose I could've gone back and forth a bit until one said bugger off but heyho.

beasty:

100% my main fitter was ex kwik t*t,4 years fitter/manager so i know how it works, they have strict daily figures to meet and he re-negotiated prices regular if asked, due to massive buying power they come cheap to the big guns roughly 25%-50% profit  so dont be shy nothing to loose.even a small fish like me can buy a £85 retail tyre for less than £50+VAT;)

They got an E rating in wet weather. Considering the country, that is the most important category. I'd want at least a C rating.

you should be taking it easy in the wet, especially in a stonking big motor !

iv never had any issues

Blimey, sounds like I need to start leaning on them a bit harder. I always felt bad haggling but bugger me, I'm in the wrong business.

I am a bit of a grandad driver. Plus living in Cornwall never really allows me to go above about 40! Oh and I leave PLENTY of space behind other drivers- my beetle had non servo assisted drum breaks, and carp discs at the front
Oh and Hippo- I would really love to upgrade- but work is kicking off at the moment and I havn't got time to swop atm. Although at only £350 for all four I could swop over later, selling the then part worns on the bay with the 18"ers in good nick. Still on my mind- so if you see any come up do shout! :)

As I recall, you start aqua planing at around 30MPH. Good tyres will improve that somewhat. I had poopy Nexens on my Escort and really noticed the wet weather performance when I put on some good rubber, although I made so many changes to that vehicle to improve the handling, it was probably more than just the tyres at play.

I can't really comment on my P38 yet since the tyres were quite low when I got it so I'd need to **** through this set then try a different set to fairly judge. But the limits of grip is well above what is safe *cough*and legal*cough* on any UK road, so I am happy with that.

I've had a set of 20" nexens on my td6 for a year they have worn well and Ive never had any bother in the wet braking etc and at only £100 each they are a bargain

Is that £100 a tyre new ?

A wet rating of B? Blimey, cheapo brands have really come along in the world. In the last 3 years they have made massive leaps forwards.
