I'm sure a proper MOT tester will be along soon to answer that, but the bit about inspection of the components includes DPF, Cat and Selective Catalytic Reduction Valves. So, is an EGR a selective reduction valve? I would have thought so.

The egr is removed from my daughters TD5 and it sailed through MOT couple months ago

Yes it should now be a major fail , but I haven't read anywhere of any failing with EGR deletes etc. (there have been several threads on this in the last 12 months) Mine sailed through no problem.

Depends on which garage you go to, some are only concerned with DPFs and Cats, as these are a lot easier to access.

I refitted my EGR and CAT before getting my 2004 TD5 tested, my MOT tester is a indi landrover repair specialist and he told me he failed a disco a few weeks before I took mine in because both EGR and CAT had been removed, I have read other garages have passed them with them being removed, maybe some have engine covers off so it's easy to spot and others that have passed have engine covers on so hiding the EGR. Or some just don't know which had them originally.
Ironically he rang me to say mine would not pass as one of my electric headlight beam height adjusters was not operating, which if fitted now have to work under the new rules, even though headlight alignment was fine.
He did not register a fail but sorted it and gave me a pass, it had been like that for 12 years I've owned it, I forgot about it.

They are very unlikely to manually check for an EGR valve - that check isn't part of the MOT. Try not to point out it's missing. Many MOT people are not proper mechanics and wouldn't know one anyway. Ive had an EGR delete and my mate who owns a garage assures me they will never notice on emissions. Ive a Renault van with it blocked off and removed and they never notice either.
You could always make a replica - take a toilet roll and a length of pipe and make something that looks like a hippie bong and spray it black. Rub it in the dirt so it looks rusty and knackered. Then it will look the part. Maybe put a white round sticker on it and write "Checked" with a big tick next to it.
