Ok guys still looking at L322 vogue.
So many comments been digested ref fuel economy.

Now want to know which is most reliable. Read comments that 4.4 LPG are renowned for overheating. What's main problems with td6 engine and what with LPG

Both are good strong units if looked after its just the gearbox there mated to and all the other components. Do a search on the boards pal there's loads of great info.
 
Just wondering how much the bandwidth for this site would slim down and how many threads would disappear if the search function was utilised by more people. ;)

4.4 on LPG is not prone to overheating as long as it is maintained correctly....

4.4 is a strong unit as is the TD6 - problems arise in the gearboxes....TD6 eats the GM box for lunch and the 4.4 likes to knacker O Rings for breakfast.

TDV8 likes to munch the turbos and alternators.....
 
I was also told that its more common for gearboxes to go on cars with 22inch wheels. Havnt got a clue how they work that out
 
You will get all sorts of conflicting advise when it comes to range rovers mate, Ive been lurking on this forum for a while now gathering info and I'm still not sure if I'm gona get one, my mechanic of 10 years advises me to stay away but I'm still drawn to them lol. If you really want one just get one but be prepared to spend! and search the boards fir info on faults, also Try and go for the newest model you can that's my advise, I was looking at really early cars originally but now I'm looking at 06/07 cars but they are pricey still so I better get saving lol. LPG, means more to go wrong, especially if the conversion hasn't been done very well, like some of the members on here have experienced. (dodgy wiring etc..)


I love my trusty old TD6 tractor !
 
well, you could get a 4.4 and then get it converted and ensure it is a good conversion with a warranty....2yrs?
 
The BMW M62TUB44 on the L322 converts to LPG very well, it doesn't have the nikasil liners that can be an issue with low sulphur fuels on the earlier M60/62 engines. The valve seats are hardened, but a flashlube system wouldn't go a miss to keep the valves and stems lubed up.

Nowt wrong with a decent LPG'd L322.....just keep up the maintenance just like any other Range Rover.
