Morning Everyone

I just joined the site so finding my way around. Something I should have done years ago to be honest.
I used to run a P38 (2002), one of the last ones registered, had a good few years and a few incidents that may be of use on here so I will keep monitoring and advise where I can.
I am currently looking at buying a Discovery 3, 2005, 4.4 HSE. and will be asking some questions. I need help finding the best LPG solution for it and reputable installers etc...
I will post it in the relevant area on the site as I guess this is just the intro area.
I am from the North East originally, Stockton on-Tees area, I am often up there and use AMR Auto's in Stokesley for all my LR work, have done for years. So any other members up that area, feel free to share any other mechanics / LPG fitters etc, or indeed ask me about mine.
Currently I live near Retford on the Notts / Lincs border, I work in Sheffield too, so again if anyone has any recomendations in these areas I would appreciate their input.
Thanks again and I look forward to sharing the knowledge....
Gavin:)

daft thing to say but on the LPG always go for the multi point or sequential systems, i cant remember the exact physics but do remember they are much better suited to V8 applications

:welcome2:BTW

Hi Gavin,
Your not far from me lol.
Think there's a place at killamarsh that install LPG conversions. i've recently bought a 1995 p38, love it, be better when i've sorted suspension though!! :)

Hi Guys
Thanks for the replies.
Steve, good luck with the P38, I had one for a few years, good bit of kit, though can be temperamental, i think I had a pretty good one.
With the suspension one thing to be aware of is if it goes to full height and locks out (4 lights on the ride height indicator & EAS fault on the dash), the usual fail mode is the lowest ride height and is usually a seal failure losing pressure, however I had it fail at full height on the motorway... it just rose up suddenly and failed.
I took it to garage and was told it was a compressor and height sensor fault and would cost about £500.... however, I phoned my own mechanic and he said to have it put on the diagnostic machine for £25 and have the fault codes cleared.... it worked. For £25 I was faultless and driving again worry free.
Turns out it can happen if you drive too close to a tv or mobile phone antenna... it scrambles the computer and rouge faults can happen.
Its quite common when park near an antenna for the remote locking key-fob not to work too, very common with Landies and Mercs, so beware those trips on the moors and parking next to antenna where there are usually car parks...
Just a couple tips on P38 suspension.

I have managed to source the LPG deal I am going for, after quite a bit of research I am going with CLS Dual fuel in Durham, they come highly recommended in the trade and seem a fair price at £2k all in.
Pick up my Discovery 3 on friday... cant wait.

Cheers Gavin,
I have just made a EAS diagnostic lead, having been to my local L/R specialist and his kit wouldn't read my ECU I decided to sort it myself! I think the compressor is faulty and an airbag but as I can get all the parts very cheap soon, i'll just change everything! :)

Gavin,
Re the LPG Conversion, I can reccomend Mickleton Service Station near Barnard Castle, I had my P38 converted there, excellent job and excellent service.

Thanks everyone.

I have just picked up my car today... in typical Landrover style it has 2 faults already .
Neither the front or rear parking sensors are working, tells me the front ones are inop on the dash, tone and flashing light on switch, reset but doesnt work. No failure message about the rear ones just dont seem to work at all.
Then when I got home tonight I noticed the parkbrake light that comes on on the dash doesnt extinguish when the engine is turned off.
Didnt notice during the day, but kept watching it tonight and still stayed on after 5 mins so had to restart and take the parkbrake off, just left the gear in park.... hope thats enough.. lol
Oh the joys of being a Landy owner....
Still love it though...

Ref the LPG situation, I have booked in with CLS Dual Fuel in Durham, heard good things about them and even had some recommendations from other LPG installers in the south, so they must be pretty good. Very good price too so will let you know how it goes, am booked in on monday 20th, collect again on friday 24th.

Cheers
