Hi Happy Wanderer,
Interested to read your post. Ive done the tweaks to the pump on my 300tdi which helps a lot (I tow a double horse trailer too). Now i'm thinking of going for a bigger intercooler. Its good to hear that it does the business. Ive looked at Brunel's site. There intercoolers look good. Was your conversion expensive?

no 220 all in fitted including turning up the turbo boost mines a 200tdi you cant turn up the boost on a 300 as its done via electrics it pulls like a train now even with nearly 284000 mls on the clock well worth it. it maybe a bit more cash for the egr blanking kit

Hi just read your post and must correct you on a slight mistake you made,i have a 300 tdi and have done a few mods first was to get rid of the viscous coupling fan drags far to much power out of the engine, fitted home made fully automatic electric fan, second was to get rid of the cat on the down pipe and fitted a defender down pipe as they had no cat fitted, third i fitted a bigger intercooler and k&n air filter also adjusted fueling on pump and turned the top of the pump round 90 deg, this was the slight mistake you made to adjust boost pressure on a 200 tdi you adjust the waistgate linkange to adjust the boost easier than a 300 as the linkage is at the top the linkage for a 300 is at the bottom bit harder to adjust when hot, recomended boost by LR is 15 psi,im running at 17psi 20 psi will blow to many head gaskets, the boost is not controlled by electrics im sorry to say.i have since fitted new turbo hoses from allard turbo and took off all the egr valve and pipes runs brilliantly and scares a lot of disco 2 owners going up hill including my father in law but now hes just got his disco 3 dont think i will beat that but hey im still grinning, mot again in a couple of weeks so will have to wind the fuel down it does pass but its on the limit.

checked out the turbo boost on 3oo & your right sorry for my mistake thanks for putting me right live & learn every day did you put the k&n filter on after changing the inter cooler as im thinking about doing the same but not sure if you still notice the improvement also thinking about fitting a set of hi clones when funds permit looking forward to any advise i can get.

hi i fitted a bigger intercooler and done the k&n at the same time, i have just removed the egr system and blancked it off,YES YES I KNOW SHOULD HAVE DONE IT AGES AGO! i got the intecooler of ebay from a company called bell autos its the same size fits in the same place and has a larger flow rate i paid £126.00 including p&p but that was exchange on my old unit,i got a standard one due to having air con,i was considering fitting a td5 intercooler but the capacity is actually smaller i know hard to believe but the td5 was also harder to fit in a 300 tdi although it might have run cooler, another idea i might try out is water cooling, basically having a couple of washer jets to spray the intercooler with cold water to give coolder air and more boost, the k&n i got off ebay for £5.00 another bargain,i have just replaced the intercooler hoses purchased from allard turbo, nice blue ones holds the pressure a lot better, just had car MOTd on tuesday emissons on 1.17 overall so really pleased on a 120k engine and nothing to repair, the electric fan i still think is the first thing to do you really can feel the difference straight away,i would only sugest a normal size intercooler if you dont tow a lot and go off road a lot,its only then that you will notice a great difference,my car has so much low down grunt now im like a boy racer again,or so my wife tells me.

if you have a look at twisted performance and speak to charles there when i was up havin my 200tdi sorted he was just developing a fan idea on the intercooler im sure he had some at billing when i spoke to him regards colin

Well my mate at work has a mitsi 2.8 shogun(traiter) and his intercooler has a fan fitted on the intercooler as standard so it must work!,tiga
