Hello again,

Sitting at service station and thinking of scrapping this heap of junk.

The L322 4.4 was on a trip back from Bradford to Birmingham and engine light came on but it drives fine!

Hooked up my Hawkeye and got MULTIPLICATIVE ADAPTION CONTROL LIMIT REACHED AND TANK VENT VENTILATION VALVE.

Reset codes and about to drive of and got to end of service station to hear beeping saying CHECK COOLANT LEVEL.

Checked coolant level and it's full!

Does your L322 give endless problems too or have I bought the wrong one? What could the Tank Vent Valve code mean also the MULTIPLICATIVE code?

Thanks once again

They are a complicated beast,
Coolant level warnings will come up if the coolant mixture is too weak as it measures the coolant mixture

The pipe split before just above gearbox, behind engine. They did say gearbox out job but done it myself in the end. Took 10 mins to change lol. But I have only put water in since and not a drop of antifreeze.

Could this be my problem?

I'm 17 and this car is unbelievable, always emptying my drink money box lol . My P38 never broke down and this l322, I bought it for £4900 3 months ago and now it owes me £8000.

I would say the lpg vaporiser pressure is a little down you pushed it a bit hard on the motorway and the trim couldn't adjust the injection timing to adjust for the low gas pressure hence the out of range fault. Phantom coolant level warnings are a common Occurance. I'm surprised you haven't had a map cooling activation fault yet.
Good times. Don't be too hard on the old girl.

I have always tried to guide people when they come on here saying I want to buy such and such a Range Rover, I always say aslong as you are prepared for the time, frustration on potential high repair costs from owning one then you'll get on with it fine....

They are unreliable complex vehicles, they are not a conveyance, they are a hobby and yes they will constantly break down.

It measures the specific gravity of the coolant...and if you had only filled up with water on a mix metal engine, then I am afraid maybe you should hang up your keys then go hang your head in shame....

Coolant contains additives and inhibiters that protect the engine from corrosion....plain water in a mix metal engine will create a potential electrical difference in the water as it is in contact with two different metals (the principle batteries generate electricity) this will cause hugh corrosion problems as the water is now an electrolyte and what you are potentially doing is stripping metal from one side and depositing it on the other metal...this is how electroplating works....

Drain the water and fill it up correctly with the correct mix of coolant and deionised water before you ruin your car....

I ayyach a document that explains fuel trims from the 5'er Bimmer....(the E38 7'er, the E39 5'er and the E53 X5 all use the same M62TUB44 engine)

Sorry, Didn't know what electroplating was.

Will follow your advice and put coolant and deionised water into it.

Thanks for the document, will open it when I get home as using my mobile ATM.

As saints post above really

Plus you got yours dirt cheap, hope it was a well looked after example

Can't run these beasts on the corsa budget sadly

17 with an l322, thought I was young lol
Bet your insurance was nice and pricey ;)

It's a family car so we all pay for insurance together monthly :)

With a big family we needed a 7 seater L322 so this was the one with no paperwork other than logbook.

Two thing that I don't drive l322 without : AA card and Hawkeye Diagnostic Machine

Any other serviceable parts that are common to go? So I can replace and avoid future breakdowns...

7 seat L322... Must be a special build, never seen one myself....was a 7 seat an option....??

Might have better luck with a 7 seat Disco 3 or 4

Hi Guyz... Long time no speak. Still with my '03MY L322 M62TUB just passed MOT It's the one with the engine rebuild. At rebuild they only changed out one VANOS. The other was very ticketie-ticketie on collection. But quietened down a lot when fully warmed up. The power was excellent though and the consumption on a long run even with some speed up was 25-26mpg. Course I had to go and spoil it because the ticking became louder. So bought a new VANOS to replace the ticking one. And had the same engine re-builders install it. Now very much quieter but the power's not there as much as it was, and the consumption's down to 21-22mpg even light foot as much as I try. Then the engine EML came on. My iCarsoft diagnosed both upstream Llamda sensors faulty -- the EML would clear and then come back after 50-60 miles or so. So had them changed for new Bosch ones. The EML now stays off. And the engine now reports no faults. But the poor consumption's still there (last check 21mpg) and the power's still weak.
The L322 guru down at MOT station (Challenger 4x4) is convinced the "adaptation" is off and needs to be re-set coz of the new VANOS and the new Llamda sensors. But I don't think there's anywhere in iCarsoft to do this. Challener 4x4 couldn't do it after MOT coz they were fully booked. Is there anywhere in iCarsoft to perform this "adaptation" (like there is for Jaguar XJ8 or even using Vag Com a VW tFSI 2.0L) ?
Or is this procedure only available on dealer level diagnostics?

Cressida's well, thank you for asking. Or she was last time I looked into the chest freezer...
