Cant seem to find anything relating to this one,tried searching.

In 5th gear 3 n half thou revs.

Particularily up hill,doin approx 80/85.

Car sort of does this hiccups/misfires/hesitates/loses power for a second/jerky movements all mean the same thing.

Its as if it cuts out for a secong then picks up.

I hope i,ve give enough explanation.

Can anybody suggest any remedies.????

Much appreciated,thing is i travel to Wales about 3 times per month,fully laden,long drive,plenty of hills.

Lets say under load i have a problem;)

Also check all the boost pipes are unsplit and well secured ;)

Might be worth draining the fuel sedimenter on the rear offside chassis leg too ;)

Sounds like some form of fuel starvation to me.

Have you checked/replaced:
1. Fuel sedimentor;
2. Fuel filter;
3. Lift pump;
4. Turbo hoses

I know it'll take a little longer but driving at 65mph is sooooh much more economical, about 2200rpm on my 300 auto.

Cheers
Dave

Is it a paper one? or metal? or otherwise? sorry to be Thick Twot M8

Hiya, the fuel sedimtor is a filter-like device that lives between the rails of the chassis, just in front of the drivers side rear wheel.

It has a plastic tap on the bottom to drain any water out, but my suggestion would be that you take this apart and clean the bowl.

It would make sense to get a new rubber seal in stock before you attempt this.

There is is nut or bolt (can't remember) on top of the unit, undo this then remove the bowl - don't be surprised if it takes a little removing.

I've seen pictures of what can be found in here and it ain't pretty - like a jelly mayonnaise that rises and falls with the demand for fuel.

If you find something nasty in there, do post some piccies:D :D

Well thanks a million i hope nothing jumps out a clamps itself to me face,

i will take a snapshot,ill book it in for myself to do Satdee mawnin.

Had this momentary loss of power a while back on my Def 300 tdi, scratched head for a week or so before finding the wire from the ignition to kill the engine / fuel pump was ever so slightly loose and at around 65 mph with a certain engine speed it would go.
I just pulled the wire from the fuel pump ( Black I think and on bottom side ) cleaned all the contacts and tightened it up with a pair of pliers. Never had the problem again so worth a try.

Good luck

Just to update i have explained on another thread.

My loss of power was due to a blocked/clogged up deisel filter.

The gummy monster had gobbed in it,all yellow sticky ****ey clycerinny type crepp.

Just thought i,d let all know.:)
