what simple mods could I put on my Shed to get it more useful. Just a standard 1.8l 5dr freelander.

All suggestions welcome even stupid ones.

and oil/grease door hinges/locks.handles.
take door card off and give the window motors/cable a good oiling

Pour petrol on the front seat and light it on the 5th of November. Will save all that wood gathering and bonfire building. :D:D:D

I do not know why people come on OUR forum and say things like set it on fire I think it is just jealousy because they have to have a fire watcher every week because of all the welding they have to do.

Tried to last year but it more use as a car.

Doing all the little thinks like that. Planning on ird rebuild if its knackered and back to 4x4 but problematic want to improve performance and mpg.

Unless recently done, replace plug leads, plugs, coil packs and if it has it the distributor cap and rotor arm, made a big difference to mine.

I have the 1.8 FL1. Routinely getting over 31 mpg and can get better with a little effort.
My mod's were done when I had the head... off, they include:
clean out all plastic flash left over from manufacture in the inlet manifold, ditto for the exhaust manifold and front pipe, clean out weld splatter & sharp edges that protrude from the metal pipe.
Head work: open up the inlet and exhaust runners, port match the exhaust side, smooth out the valve throats as the valve seat often protrudes out of the casting [just smooth / round the lower edge off], round off the valve guides, unshroud the valves in the head - you could get as much as 2mm but 1.5mm is safer, back trim the valves just a whisker. de cat it? fit a K&N Apollo air filter and a cold air feed too. New plugs, rotor and duster cap if you have the earlier mems 1.9 ECU & motor.

Check tyre pressures, clean / replace air filter, Run good quality fuel, replace fuel filter, run injector cleaner through the fuel system... don't cart round superfluous baggage - take the cross bars off the roof rails.

Use it & enjoy it.

It's called banter, beside tis in the forum rules, section 9,subsection 2 a,clause 75,all gaylanders can be subject to vebal abuse,at the whim of tratter/land rover owners.:p:D

Tratterers are more effeminate than Freelanderers despite their constant denial. Eggsample:

A female buys a new dress. She instantly needs to accessorise gok style by buying a new hand bag, new earrings, new shoes etc to match her new dress.

A tratterer buys a tratter. The tratterer instantly needs to accessorise gok style by buying checker plate, a winch (never gets used), a snorkel, and a set of ear defenders etc.

Don't know how long but the drive back was better on fuel, response round corners and on straights good but hills it still has the guts of a robin reliant.
Put it on a diagnostic tool that guy camping across way had and it said that there was no faults and it struggled to communicate with the car, so slightly worried about that.
Loosing the roof racks and shedding some weight. Got while shopping list and few ideas.

Not all diagnostic kit works with the FL. Some which list they do struggle or have limited options.

I always wondered where they got the name from
