Hi all,
Im looking to chip my 2.5 dhse range rover so I rang my insurance to see what they would say to me doing this re my cover and they say they wont cover it with any modifications at all,in fact they even class a non standard stereo system as a modification nowadays and wont cover the car, anyway can anyone recommend any insurance companies that will do cover for my motor ?
Thanks in advance,
Trev

Usually when you take out cover you can select which extras your car has and what you want covered with the insurance like stereos etc ..
I don't bother, you pay more in premiums then the bits are worth !

i used adrian flux they got a 4x4 part mine dse was modified with wheels, steps,a bar, exhaust, 22 wheels, tints, dvd player rear screens sport spoiler everything was declared and was only paying £320 fully comp with protected ncb, screen cover etc

Quite a few insurance companies will not accept mods.
Also what is exactly defined as a mod? If you fit non OEM parts, is that a mod?
In the event of a claim the buggers could use it as an excuse for not paying out.

I got nervous with about my DSE not being covered. I have done a number of mods, so I changed to Adrian Flux. They seemed happy with the mods but tell them first.

If you put large alloy wheels on and spray it pink it is obviously modified but how could your insurer possibly know that you have chipped it if you dont tell them ?

I've tried several, but two that seem to stand head n shoulders above the rest for insuring modified motors are Footman James and Adrian Flux

The box strapped to the side of the engine with power box 2 slapped on it might just give the game away dont you think ???.Im not going to give insurance companies the chance to refuse any possible future claim its not worth the risk or hassle.

I agree. Vote with your feet. Shop around but tell "em what you have done.
