Mine is 2003 facelifted. I'll get some pics up tomorrow, the car is currently away today being professionally cleaned inside (I treat it to a proper clean once a year). The remap box arrived today so I will fit it when the car is back and let you know how it feels. After changing the diff and transfer box oils plus fitting a snorkel, the car feels much smoother, quieter and better! Can't wait to see what it will be like after fitting the remap kit and changing the oils in the engine and gearbox.

I had one of those discreet winch mounts, they're pretty good but I tore the bumper off very soon after fitting as its quite low for any offroading. I now have a steel winch bumper. I 'sold' the discreet mount to some b****** on this forum but they never paid me for it after the funds failed to clear and never replied to any of my PMs.

cool, I should probably post some pics of mine too, before I start doing the major work to it.

where did you get the remap box from? and how much was it?

I've just ordered a full service kit today, so hopefully that'll make mine run a bit smoother too.

As for the winch mount, i am worried about ripping the front bumper off, I know a few people that have done it. Is your's lifted?

Sorry to hear that, did you send them the winch bumper before they had paid you?

I sent it before being paid...thought people on the forum would be trustworthy (or more so) but turns out not everyone is. Never mind, lesson learned, and there are no doubt many more friendly and honest folk on here.

Got the remap box from Paddock, think it was around £400, which is quite a bit of money I guess, but you only live once.

Mine is lifted by 2" on terrafirma heavy duty springs and 2" extra length shocks (don't forget to add longer brake hoses if you lift yours - especially on the front). If I were to do it again, I would buy ordinary strength springs, the HD ones aren't as comfortable considering I don't really load the car with much weight.

sorry to hear that, some people are right shysters!

£400 is quite expensive, however, i'm sure it will be worth every penny!

I will be lifting mine soon, but will be keeping the air suspension on the back. don't you need the HD springs on the front due to the extra weight from the bumper and winch? or would the standard springs be able to handle that much extra weight?

Thats a good question :) didn't think about that! I think you are right. I was thinking about the rear, which is quite light. If you're keeping the rear air bags then probably stick with HD on the front. Are you planning on doing quite a bit of offroading? I did quite a bit in mud and where there were lots of branches and bits of tree and all the airlines from the compressor go torn. Wasn't a problem as I had springs fitted but discovered the carnage just this weekend when I took the compressor off.

Good job you had already changed to springs then lol!

I won't be doing any major off roading in it, some green lanes around my area and probably wales next year, I will be using it mainly for touring / camping.

What engine mods have you already done, pre-remap?

I have been told that it's worth doing the EGR blanking and giving the intake a good clean 1st, and maybe also changing the cat down pipe to a non cat 1. (apparently that can give you up to 20BHP but i don't know for sure)

I've done the EGR last year and there was some improvement. I fitted a snorkel this weekend and cleaned the air intakes, not sure which of the two had the biggest effect, but there is some very noticeable improvement! K&N filter arrived yesterday so that will be going in tonight if I get the time. Haven't de-cated as the emissions restrictions are very strict over here in Slovakia.

Reversing cam screen...cost about £25 all in.

Snorkel fitted this weekend...some bruising on the winch bumper

Front...my uncle is a metal fabricator and he made the number plate holder for me. My attempt at painting it wasn't too good. I think its the galvanised steel, which doesn't hold the paint very well. I'll repaint it when I have a chance.

New tyres fitted today

Just fitted the remap box and KN filter....OMG the difference is brilliant! A week ago my D2 was a slow heap of metal...now? Bloody amazing. A week's work, snorkel, new oils, KN filter and remap box and new tyres has made a dreary drive absolutely fantastic.

Thats a nice looking disco you've got there! I like the reversing camera, I might have to get 1 of those too. Where did you put the camera?

I'm glad to here all the work has paid off! I was looking at remap boxes on paddocks last night, which box did you get?

I'm going to be doing some tidying up under the bonnet on mine this weekend.

Thanks! I put the camera on the black plastic light/door handle thing above the rear number plate. I got this set (below) and the cables were long enough to run to the front. I fitted a wireless receiver in the company Nissan Navara, but I would advise against it as they get very hot. Definitely wire it up. Its a bit of extra work removing all the inner trim in the Disco, but well worth it and the picture is better.

The tuning box I got was this one http://www.paddockspares.com/da4433-psi-power-box-defender-or-discovery-td5-automatic-or-manual.html but bear in mind Mike from Dynachip also does re-programming and a lot of people on here have recommended him in the past. I wanted a kit that can be removed, otherwise I would have given him a ring.

That's not a bad piece of kit for £25, I think I will defo be getting 1 of those. I can't put the screen where you have put yours though as I don't have electric sunroofs.

The tuning box you have is the same 1 I was looking at on paddocks, I might have to write a letter to father christmas to see what he can do lol. Just out of interest, now that yours is performing better, what is your fuel economy like?
