Looking to replace my mk 3 sat nav - had a look about on eBay but not sure I want to trust the punters incase I splash out for a faulty item. So I'd much rather give someone respectable (a user of this forum! :p) the cash for it! I'm willing to pay approx £200 + postage. Cheers, Ollie

I maybe need a replacement for mine, I had the dreaded water ingress and wet Sat Nav and DSP unit and corrosion in connectors of other units in the LH rear quarter. Sat Nav dried and corrosion damage possibbly repaired, DSP corroded pin repaired by a good friend of mine; Datatek.
Now I still have to put everything back and see if it works again.
( Acc. Datatek there was severe damage in the Sat Nav and he did everything possible but wasn't 100% sure it would work again)

Firstly, I hope when you put it back together it works and will save you purchasing a new unit - water ingress in the rear quarter certainly is not uncommon! if however you are not so lucky I will keep you in mind when I come to sell my mk 3 (which yes, is in good working order.)
although as you can see I have had no replies on here lol and I haven't seen any particularly good deals on eBay as of yet, so until then I won't be parting with the current nav! Keep me posted though with how you get on, fairly often the corrosion repair is enough to get the system workin again. If datatek hasn't already done so, and your system does work again, get yourself a can of darathene and spray all of the electrical connections and circuitry with it - it acts as a sealant against moisture and so even submerged in water your electrical connections would still work correctly without issue.

yes, I understood that you're looking for a MK 4 replacement and my question was based on a worst case scenario for my Sat Nav but I like to have open options. And you never know, maybe you'll have an offer soon............

Thanks very much for the Darathene advice, I'll do that for sure. Even if the de-blocking of the sunroof drain was succesfull, still need to check that by the way.
Where do I buy that Darathene? I suppose it is something similar as the
spraycan for waterproofing the distributer and ignition wires I had in the 70s and 80s for my TR 6?

The sunroof drains, the tailgate seal and the roof rail securing holes can all add to water ingress in the boot - so if you find that your rear quarter and/or carpet in the main floor section of the boot is still damp, then it is likely one of these other 2 issues could be the cause also. The rear seal on my RR caused the carpet to be wet and in the spare wheel well there was constantly a puddle of water which can cause serious issues if it gets high enoigh as the air compressor for the EAS is in there as you probably know, so it was a bit worrying! All good now though after just simply cleaning the seal and running a bead of silicon underneath it :) as for the darathene - your tr6 (lucky you ;)) spray sounds very much like it as it is designed for distributors etc also, so give it a try :)
