oops just put 6 litres of unleaded into 200tdi discovery, shoved £40 of diesel on top and drove for 20 mins seems ok but should i be worried

Hello

As you dilutted the unleaded with all that diesel then there should be no problems.

The unleaded might shift a bit of muck from your fuel lines and injectors !!!!!

thanx brother thats wat i thought , but dont hurt to check its an old motor and i guess it could do with a burn through yee har

I did the same trick with an old fiesta diesel years ago !!!!!!

I put a gallon of unleaded in and then 5 gallons of derv !!!!!!

Big black clouds of soot for about 15 miles ~ then it belched and went like stink !!!!!!

a diesel engine will run fine with a 20% mix of petrol in it, whereas a petrol engine will only run with upto a 10% mix, as retsy says it will give yer injectors a bit of a clean out. a good tip is to change your diesel filter once you have emptied that tank full as the mix will clog it up.

... And obviously you can keep diluting the mix by topping up the diesel every now and then.
