NICE FIT

wow..an even worse engine!gutless fuel eating..and thats when in the shogun/pajero..

i hated mine!had 3..yuck...

I had a range rover classic with the 2.8 mitsubishi engine in it, seemed a very good conversion, drove well. Only difference I noticed is that it didnt have the intercooler (was a petrol) which this p38 does

Kind of wondered why anyone would bother, at least the 4m40 is better than the 4d56 zen and as you say would certainly like a drink.

Just had a quick Google, there's a company doing conversions to international 2.8 tgv engines ( whatever they are  ) and also the TDV6 conversions.

the mitsubishi 4m40 engine is an old tech engine it puts out 125 bhp with the mechanical pump or 150 bhp with the electronic pump although the later pumps can give problems .
i work on these engines all the time and are generally a reliable unit , they do have a reputation for cracking heads but this is normally due to poor maintainance .
would i fit one in a p38 , no i dont think so they can be thirsty especially if you have heavy boots ;) if looked after properly though they can easily do 200`000 plus miles .

rick.

I have fit a mitusubishi 2,8L engine on my P38, it just runs much better than the BMW 2,5, more power
