Hi Guys,

I purchased a 2004 Discovery 2 TD5 in January and have just hit my first 10k mark so just changed the oil, filters etc. Whilst draining the engine oil, I glanced over and noticed this missing plug. Can someone tell me what it’s for. I’ve been driving this on the regular and have had 0 issues (touch wood). I’ve been told it could be a home for a wading plug but have no idea. Thanks in advance

Maybe it is for the special cradles LR use when changing gearboxes out, i.e. they use it to bolt the cradle to for the gearbox jack.
Can you feel or see an "end " to it?
I've not heard of wading plugs on TD5s but that doesn't mean much!

Wading plugs are only fitted on vehicles going into water that having a timing belt and/or a clutch, autos and/or a timing chain do need them.
