New member here, trying to fnd out what infotainment system should be in my "new" car, a TDV8 Vogue, aclift version with the LED dashboard display.

I traded in my old 08 Vogue and a 2010 Sport for this car (it's a long story) along with a bit of cash from an ebay dealer at High Wycombe. He told me the car was missing it amplifier and reverse camera system, but he would get another and fit it. He failed to do so and subsequent phone calls are just delaying things. I can't adjust the clock or any of the car settings, the radio display just shows the Land Rover logo. There's 2 spaces in the boot for the power amp and whatever else goes in there but I haven't a clue what I should be looking for if he doesn't come up with the goods.

I can see a CD cartridge in there, a couple of antenna modules and satnav unit plus a couple of other boxes that I can't see. Does anyone know what "should" be in the 2 empty spaces? I think the system has the 7 speaker logic sound. There's also 2 ariels on the roof. There's at least 4 plugs flapping around in the boot space, but nothing that would take the output for 7 speakers. I can't connect the phone either. Can anyone shed any light on what's missing?? Other online forums haven't been any help nor have main dealers or indy garages I've spoken to!

There's also no connection between the parking brake switch and the parking brake, it doesn't work! How easy is it to reach the parking brake module? Why would anyone want to remove one? Otherwise the car's not too bad

Hello Roythebus and welcome,

I Can't help you with what is missing but the system works via a MOST fiber optic system, if you remove a piece of kit or it fails you must bypass the fiber connector to that item, looking at the item I have circled at the top of your picture should fit into the plug I circled lower down in the attached. You can then plug in MOST loop bypass plug like this example:

Do the same for any other fiber plugs in there and your infotainment system should work, minus what is missing, you may then be able to figure out what you need.

Hope that helps, good luck

PS sorry the pic above is not too clear for some reason.

Tanks for the info, there is no amplifier and nothing to work the reverse cameras from what I've been told. Unless there's an amp under the seats somewhere! Whatever is missing appears to be missing from the space in the side locker in the boot. Nobody seems to know!

There should be 2 fibres in a plug so I suspect there is a link cable missing that would go to what ever is missing. This means you can't use a bypass plug as you only have 1 fibre.

From memory, there's multi-pin plug, maybe 16 way, that has 3 wires, anothe chunky connector with 2 heavy cables, maybe 12v feed, another chunky on that goes nowhere.. I'll try to get a better picture.

The missing fiber connection is floating above in the image, it needs pushing back into the lower plug to make a pair and can then be bypassed. I drew a red circle around both see attached

The way those fibres are tied indicates they are from different plugs so there's a piece missing

Good spot, hadn't noticed that, but let's say there is a missing plug with two fibres on it, one in to the lower plug and one to the upper fiber with no plug, putting the existing two together and bypassing it would be the same as having what is missing and bypassing both would it not?

Her's some better pics hopefully! Her's what's there and what isnt! So the thick rather stiff cables are fibre cables? I've taken some pics of the dashboard and radio as this is the "facelift" version so I've been told.

Indeed it would. And as you say may help see what's missing. Diagnosics may also then help in saying what it can't see.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that in the morning. How would I connect fibre cables together? I'm exeprienced in old-fashioned vehicle electrics, nothing computerised on the vintage buses I rebuild! Just hammers, screwdrivers, a test lamp and a bigger hammer... But where would the amplifier be in tis car? Should it go in the space in the boot locker?

I can probably help you out a bit here, I have the same car so I'll take some pictures for you of mine and see if I can get you the part numbers but as others have suggested the break in the fibre bus is going to stop everything communicating. You can buy loop connectors (I keep some for such events). The way those fibres have been disconnected from the connectors is a bit odd. I think there is a Y shape on those white ones from a distant memory but it's unusual thing to do to remove them like that if you aren't going to loop them out. You'll need to make sure you get them the right way round when you put them back in too as there is an upstream and downstream for want of a better term.

Might be useful for you to put roughly where you are on your profile in case anyone is local to you and willing to let you copy theirs to get it working again.

Thanks, that's very helpful, I'm near Ashford Kent. I called by the local breakers, they had several units on the shelf but nothing to fit! I see you're just up the road from me in Maidstone.
